Update on dog living in basement

Jen, you'd be surpised how many people have no sense of smell. People who smoke have very little sense of smell, and for some reason I've met a lot of men who can't smell doody.

Yes, I'm glad about the dog getting saved, but honestly, I was more concerned about these people taking care of kids! Creepy doesn't even begin to describe it! As someone who raised a kid alone, well, childcare can really be an issue. Having a decent caregiver is a must. These people certainly weren't. You may have saved some kids from child abuse, as well as saving the dog from abuse and neglect.

I am so glad that this had a happy ending, what an adorable dog!!  I've called the Humane Society here quite a few times, I don't hesitate to call even if I'm not sure if it is a true neglect case or not, I just call anyway..... because you never know.

Wendy - I missed your inital post about this sweet dog.  I'm so glad to catch up on the story now and hear the wonderful happy ending.  Thank God your job took you to that awful basement; you're that dog's angel!

I'm amazed at the number of people I hear about who keep their dogs in the basement and/or garage 100% of the time.  I understand the need for a separate space for certains times, whether it be a crate, a baby-gated area, a run, one room, whatever.  But 100% of the time in a space without fresh air or natural light, not to mention the FILTH in that photo you posted.  Again, I'm so thankful you were able to get that dog out of there.  And I hope it doesn't indicate something equally or more horrendous for the children in their care.  No matter how civilized humans become, there are still those who are quite barbaric.
