Guy Easter Basket ideas?

One year I bought him something he wanted for the yard...a hedge clipper or something like that and I made the box into an easter bunny. Cardboard ears and feet, chicklet teeth, oversized cotton balls for the "lips" and nose, etc. Then I attached a little basket with candy in it.

That's such a clever idea - I love it!  I also think the idea of using one of those golf ball baskets would be a great idea.  I've actually put golf balls into the Easter basket before too, but I don't think DH appreciates golfing with pink golf balls [:)]

a tradition in their family to bite the ear off the chocolate bunny the night before Easter

I gave up on an Easter basket for my husband.  He's a cheap whad.  The first time I got him an Easter basket (before we were married) he liked what I got him but kept talking about how his family hasn't given him an Easter basket since he was 6, because it's a waste of money.  3 more Easters went buy and I continued to give him Easter baskets with the same response.  So, I just stopped giving him Easter baskets, until our first Easter as Husband and Wife - last year.  I gave him an Easter basket with candy.  He asked how much it cost [&o] - because now it's our money and it shouldn't be wasted on candy - not that he actually said that, but I know that's what he's thinking.  Sigh[&o]

I'm sorry but OMG what a JERK!!
i'm sure you love him a lot, and i probably shouldnt have said that, but wow thats just so rude to do that to someone.
So what, Easter Baskets ARE a waste of money... and they're childish -ie FOR children, but who cares? Its the same as any gift you recieve.... even if its lame and immature, you shouldnt ask how much it bloody costs! you just smile, accept it, and keep your pie hole shut! Didnt ANYONE learn ANYTHING from Miss Manners??

My husband made an easter basket for me last year and i almost died.... it was so cute and well thought out, not to mention very tasty..... i mean.. a GUY made an easter basket! how strange! Did we have the money to throw away on it? nooooo.... did i complain that now i had a crap load of candy to rott my teeth and add pounds to my rear when i really could have used a new pair shoes instead? nooooooo!

I'd like to make a basket for him this year.. if i can get away with it... i have the baskets already, and the straw.. but i dont know about what to put in it... He's a "gear head", loves his mustang and ranchero, he's also a MOPAR fan....
I'll have to really look around for some interesting car thingies for him....

Actually, he's a great guy.  About as good as they get.  But he's really really cheap.  He's not like an old grump or a control freak, but more like he doesn't really like candy and he has absolutely everything he needs and wants.  I'm lucky I talked him into Christmas presents, which his family isn't really big on either.  But, after spending a Christmas with my family, who kind-of over do it, he got used to it, although he returned most of it for cash or credit and then used that credit to buy groceries.  This is the type of guy that has had the same 3 pair of out dated, frayed jeans for 3 years and he won't get another pair because they still fit [8|].

On the plus side of his cheapness though, he's super responsible with his money, has learned how to fix things on his own so he doesn't have to pay someone to fix it or buy another, and he doesn't have the greatest job - I bring home the bacon - but he always has more $ saved then I do.

But really, he is a great guy, just cheap and I kind-of like him that way.

you know its a little OT but all this talk of inlaws lately reminded me of something.....
My MIL is a super freak health nut.... drives me fricken crazy most of the time.... you cant even enjoy a pop cicle in her presence.
I remember once hearing her complain about all the "Candy Holidays" ....Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, Christmas, and how terrible it is, stuffing kids full of so much sugar..... BUT .... she practicly expects an Easter Basket from her hubby every year... i just find that a little hypocritical.. and no her easter basket isnt filled with granola or health foods either..
Its also a tradition in their family to bite the ear off the chocolate bunny the night before Easter or something... my parents never did such an injustice to us.

Ahhh, in laws.  This Christmas I went out and bought presents for his family.  I put great thought into those gifts, which I shouldn't have because the year before all of his relatives got us a "couple" gift, all of which were Best Buy cards, because they knew that Chris wanted a TV.  We were going out of town for Christmas and I didn't have time to wrap all of them, so I gave them to my mother in law to wrap.  Well, she wrapped them, but put on the cards that it was from the Brown family, including themselves into the gift that I looked for and bought.   See what I mean by cheap.  On one of the cards she got confussed and put "From: Chris and Emily."  Emily is his younger sister, who's an adult and can buy her own dam present and how do you leave me off a gift I bought.

I completely understand what you're getting at. Dealing with in-laws can be difficult, especially when they have different perspectives on things. It must be very frustrating to have a mother-in-law who has a healthy lifestyle and constantly criticizes sugary treats. It seems a bit contradictory that she complains about "candy holidays" while expecting an Easter basket herself, and not even one filled with healthier options. Nevertheless, sometimes it's worth dropping everything and distracting yourself with something, I recently found SG casino no deposit bonus https://casinosanalyzer.com/casino-bonuses/sgcasino.com and with renewed vigor I go to battle now. And I understand the sentiment about the chocolate bunny tradition too. Every family has their own traditions, and it's interesting to see how they can be different. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
