Sarah, I think your scenario is a good one. I've got a habit of tucking my glasses on the neckline of my shirt when I go into stores and restaurants and yes, restrooms. I've never had a pair fall in the toilet, but they've fallen on the floor of a stall more than once (and I nearly panic every single time ---- then I clean them frantically)!
I'm not sure what the biological or scientific reason is for the lack of mosquitoes here. Yeah, we have tons of rain (ghat, and other varieties!), but when it rains, it's cold (below 60 degrees in spring). When it's warm (summer), we have almost zero rain, so maybe we don't have the proper combination of dampness and warmth that mosquito breeding requires? That being said, my friend had a ton in her yard one year, and it turned out they were coming from standing water trapped in her gutters. So, unless you have standing water around, you won't likely see them. Also, I know people that go camping in other areas see mosquitoes, so they live in Oregon ---- just not many in the area we are, I guess.
At any rate, feel free to come enjoy a bug-free evening on our patio anytime, Sarah --- with or without a beverage (but please bring the pups)!
