sluggish sunday

I spent most of the day with family.  Tired, hot and ready to relax for a bit before grilling a chicken.  It's too hot to cook indoors.  We went to our Sunday Farmers Market this morning and they had several new vendors.  We got some incredible cheeses and a corn relish that I could eat all by itself.  We had breakfast there. OMG.  Best crepe I'v ever eaten. My brother's 14 year old daughter hasn't found one single thing she likes to eat during their visit.  She's the pickiest eater I've ever met. lol I'm glad I wasn't cooking for them because I probably would have been offended like I was the last time they visited and I did cook for them.

We visited our dad's grave at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetary today.  My brothers and I shared some memories of our dad.  I feel bad that our youngest bro was only six when dad died so had few memories.  He and our younger sister were home alone when he died and it's so sad that he remembers that terrible day so well.  I cried a few tears for myself and for my brother.  We all miss him and I wish our youngest brother could have known him better.

I wish we had gone to see Glen Campbell when he was here a few months ago.  He is such a talent and I loved many of his songs.  I'm so glad you guys got to hear him despite the terrible storm.

The dogs want to be fed but they're going to have to wait a while.

Twister's UTI is still a problem despite seven days on the antibiotics.  I think he's developed bladder stones.  I guess I'll call the vet tomorrow morning.

    Kate hope you're feeling better.

Had a nice Saturday with the in-laws up north.  Riley went swimming, on the jet ski with DH and we took a wonderful sunset boat ride that lasted until almost 10:30.  On top of that, we put Charlie in the water.  He hates the water and is completely afraid of it.

I know it sounds mean, but I think he is afraid because he didn't know what to expect.  He's not used to seeing that much water in one place (a lake).  He went in and did great.  He wasn't happy but started swimming right away and swam for a good 3 -4 minutes.  I was right next to him and brought him back out and dried him off.  He did zoomies for another 15 minutes so I think he had fun.  After that he was at least able to relax on the dock and the boat.  So I think we did the right thing.  He loved the boat ride and I could kick myself for not bringing our camera or a phone to take a pic of both him and Riley...they were adorable.

I scored some All Clad pans, a set of Henkels steak knives, 6 hand made french onion soup crocks, an antique table and chairs for Riley, a box overflowing with very nice hand puppets that she LOVES, and an antique train.  As a thank you we bought and grilled up some nice Delmonico steaks.  All in all it was a good weekend!
