Thank you all

I think I will adopt that life style. Most people I know are dog lovers, however, my SIL lives in MI and we are in PA so it only happens every few years.

I don't like people helping me out either in the kitchen because it throws me off. But she told me she was just going to be a "slug" (and that's a direct quote) and not help at all. That's what bugged me. If she offered I would have said no, but not even to take dishes into the kitchen. ugh. I could write a novel on her. She is a piece of work.

    see ya

Disclaimer....not ALL Michigan folks act like that!

I have to agree with you here. We all finally found a place where we don't get this kind of reaction....[8|] when we start talking about our furbabies!

My former best friend claimed herself to be a dog person until one night we were sitting around talking about dogs and her boyfriend starts talking about he had kicked his family dog for steeling his sock. He then later went to say that they had put the dog down because it bit him. [:@] Well, if you had kicked me over a sock, I'd bite you too....

Needless to say, I don't really think she's a dog person, not at all.

Just a dog?  Unconditional love, sporadic silliness, total enjoyment of life, devotion, reservation, pride, and the ability to forgive.  Just a dog.

If a dog was a teacher you'd learn stuff like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
When it's in your best interest practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
    Take naps.
    Stretch befor you rise.
    Run, romp and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days stop to lie on your back in the grass.
When you're happy dance around and wag your body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt, run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple pleasure of a long walk.
Be loyal and never pretend to be something you're
    not.
If you want what lies buried...dig until you get it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

The above came from an email I received.  It's not mine and I don't want credit for it. I did want to share it though.

It used to really bother me at first, but now I know they are the ones who are off.  To have a dog love you and to have a bond with a dog is the greatest relationship in the world. They wish they could be so lucky.
