Lori,,I'm sorry that Willow is sick,,,what is wrong with her? Please give her a hug from me!

She's OK now.  I (very stupidly) tried to give her some turkey dog food that had little bits of sweet potato and peas.  Needless to say we'll never to that again.  She's finally forgiven me now, it took all day.  She was really PO'd with me for feeding her that.  And, I felt really guilty.

Keep strong :) You will get through this!!! I sent you an email regarding that test, don't worry it's non invasive and the right thing to do.

Dyan, I'm just now seeing your latest update on your husband.  My first thought after reading your OP was, "why would feet be red?"  I've always thought that blood pooling somewhere would look black or bruised.  I'm imagining feet that are red like after you take a too-hot shower and all the blood rushes to the surface, like blushing feet.  Is that what it looks like?  As I read further, I saw ottoluv's information, so that was helpful.

It sounds like he'll be in good hands with the specialist.  It mustn't be dreadfully serious or they'd be rushing him to an ER or something, right?  Keep us posted on what the new tests show.  And hugs to you as you "keep your chin up."

I'm so sorry you don't have all the answers on this yet - sending you strength and DH get well vibes!

    pedal edema = swollen feet
cyanotic  =  low oxygen level (in other words, poor circulation)
Arterial Pulse Volume Recording  =  a test to see if there's arterial disease, or a blockage somewhere.  The test is painless and non-invasive.

Well that is sure MY way to want to think.....[;)]
Yes Tracy...in answer to your red feet question,,,I think they looked like they were in too hot of water,,, not pooling in blood. I fell on my knee a few years ago..and it took a few days and thank goodness someone warned me,,because one day I got up and saw all this blood pooling in my feet...and scared me half to death. It does not look like that.  This is just red..but at one point they did have a bluesh cast so it really does seem like circulation.  He was wearing those elastic stockings after surgery for the first month,,,then quit wearing  them. I mentioned maybe he should start again, but they were such a pain that he is saying "they would have told me if I should wear them!"
Ann,,THAT was short and sweet!! [:)]  Thanks Pofi

Hi dyan :)  Your feet description is pretty darn classic of dependent rubor. Here is a nice definition of it.
    [linkhttp://www.kkmedinfo.com/ARTERIAL%20DISEASE%20OF%20THE%20LOWER%20EXTREMITIES.htm]http://www.kkmedinfo.com/ARTERIAL%20DISEASE%20OF%20THE%20LOWER%20EXTREMITIES.htm[/link]

Chronic lower extremity ischemia isn't an emergency, it's ok to work it up properly without rushing to the ED.  The dependent rubor goes along with it being chronic as well and not acute.  Acute is very painful, blue, very different and requires emergency surgery usually.  Are you holding up ok?  Were all here with prayers for you!

Thanks Kelly! Yes,,I am holding up,,,thanks for asking. Actually,,,two things that I am happy about. I did talk DH into going with Bubby and I for a walk this morning even though its cold out.  But got that over with for the day....... and just now the doctors office called. DH is not home at the moment so I took the call. She was reporting blood test results...and all there is great... including Sugar, cholesterol (which is up a little) all in all she said there is nothing from these results that spells any kind of trouble,  and nothing that watching his diet and a little exercise won't help with.  He had just lost a lot of weight which he did purposely knowing he was to have the back surgery..so he really doesn't need to loose any weight.
That link was informative,,,and yep,,your right about the description and dependent rubor.  I just wonder if this is something he had or brought on by surgery.  It was interesting to read on in that link,,spinal stenosis was mentioned and he DID have that and it was part of his surgery along with fused disk.
