    DH UPDATE

DH went back to the doctor today.   I don't know,,,sure was hoping for something a little more encouraging...
She was happy that the swelling was down a lot..but unhappy that his feet were still red. They are not AS red,,but still red none the less. She did change his water pills to a different one.... and is sending him to get his blood checked with a 14 hr. fast.  Has checked a few things,,,including Lipid Panel,,,, and also a uninalysis.        Then he has an appt for next week with a vascular doctor to make sure that there in no blockage in his arteries in his legs...I guess.
I kind of wasn't that worried,,,thinking he had been thru a bunch of tests before his surgery,,,but gee...I guess there a lot left,,huh?    Just wondering how much surgery had to do with all of this..wondering if he was getting more activity if it would not have happened.  LUCKILY,,,,we have not experience with surgeries.......   but the little we have with his parents... don't remember any complications.
I think what really makes me kind of sick is that he came thru the surgery with flying colors...didn't even take pain meds.   On his last check - up with the surgeon,, things are still looking great. We were hoping that when he goes back in 60 days (from last visit) that he would not have to wear his body cast anymore,,,and he could start being more normal.
Well, I need to keep an good attitude I guess...something that comes hard to me at times...[:o]

With so many complications coming from surgery these days... he has done really well!  Did they say anything about his feet being red?  It's hard to look at the bright side... and keep a good attitude sometimes (that's why we can rant here! We'll never say a word lol)  but try to keep your chin up.  There are blessings in every day, sometimes we gotta squint hard to see 'em tho.

    Boy, you got THAT right!

Did they say anything about his feet being red?

Well, yeah,,,that is the part she didn't like. She was happy that the swelling went down...the redness worries her. I guess that is why she is sending him for tests and bloodwork. The redness is not as much,,it doesn't seem to be getting worse so that is a good thing.
    I guess......[:o]
I'll keep you in my prayers :)

    Thank you!

Gosh Dyan, I know you must be weary and very anxious for him to be better.  My friend who had the surgery in November is still having problems, but of a different nature.  I think I mentioned that she was starting to have the numbness in her leg/foot again.  They did an MRI and said they see another bulging disc, so she has a another MRI with contrast scheduled in  a few weeks.  It gets worse.  She thought she had a UTI, so they did a urinalysis and found blood in her urine.  Had her wait a couple weeks, and redid it, and there was still blood.  She had an ultrasound this week on her bladder and they've ordered a special test for her to rule out bladder cancer [:(].  As you can imagine, we're very worried.  I didn't mean to derail your post, but it just seems like the days of taking our health for granted are long gone.  I hope they can figure our what's going on with your DH and he can just continue to recuperate from the surgery.  My friend says she finds herself apologizing to her husband because she feels like it's been such a burden on him, but I tell her that's nonsense.  We may not like having our spouses struggling, but that's what "in sickness and health" part of the vows are for, right?  Hang in there and vent to all of us whenever you need to [:D]

Dyan it souns like if your primary doc is sending you to the vascular surgeon they think the redness is something we call dependent rubor. It's redness in dependent areas that occurs with people that suffer from vascular insufficiency. Venous stasis and secondary cellulitis both from damaged valves in the veins can cause redness too, but it usually doesn not only involve the feet, but goes up the calf at least as well. Surgery is wierd in this way, sometimes the stress your body is under in the OR, even for routine procedures, is enough to bring forward things that are brewing in your body. If your husband has vascular insuficciency in his lower extremities the vascular surgeon will definiatly know :) Let me know if you have any questions about what they tell you, I'm always happy to help. I actually do my research in vascular surgery and my dad is a vascular surgeon :) Good luck again!

Dyan -- still lifting you guys up.  Sometimes it's easier if it's US than our spouse -- when it's them it leaves us feeling frustrated trying to get them to do what 'we' think we'd do (or would do if we had the time?? *grin* meaning it's easier to tell a spouse what he SHOULD do than do it ourselves!)

Dyan--Hi.  I was going to e-mail you but Willow was sick earlier so that cut my computer time down before work.  But, wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you and DH and hoping for the very best for him.  He must be getting so frustrated, huh?  I know my Gram did when it was one thing after another.
    Tell Bubby "hi" for me.

Dyan, I'm sorry, I don't visit this section much and didn't know anything was going on with your DH. We're sending lots of good vibes and prayers that things improve.

Thanks everyone!  I really appreciate all of your care and good thoughts!  I think I need it!
Cathy I'm sorry your friend is having so much trouble....what a way to feel...when you feel your a burden on your spouse....I hope her tests come out okay, as well as DH's.   Loris right,,,one thing after another is kind of tough.
Ottoluv, I went to look at the paper that the doctor gave to DH to take to the vasular doctor. She ordered Arterial Pulse Volume Recording. And she wrote that the Clinical Indication is Pedal Edema-Synotic Feet. Does that mean anything to you?
Lori,,I'm sorry that Willow is sick,,,what is wrong with her?  Please give her a hug from me!
