DH UPDATE

I'm glad his blood tests were good; I'll be praying for him. Good luck with the appointment on Monday.

    Thank you Janice!

Sorry I am so late in coming to this, what with the events of the week and all. My mom has had the "red legs" as well and it freaked us out too the first time we saw it. Positive thoughts to you guys and hope things are continuing to go well.

DH went to the vascular doctor today.  They just ran the tests and said that they will send the results to his doctor by next week.
But she also added that she doesn't think there is any blockage.
THAT sound like a good thing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but then,,,,what else could be wrong!
Wonder if it could be just from not getting a lot of exercise after his surgery....but he is moving and walking around,,,going for one walk a day  (that I make him go on...)   walking up and down steps a bit everyday.    I keep telling him we need to walk walk walk,,,and he keeps telling me that his problem is not going to get better if he walks.  Who knows which of us is right or wrong!

I'm glad there wasn't any blockage and hope the tests will help the regular doctor to know what's wrong; sending healing vibes.

How frustrating to have to wait yet another week for test results.  As I said before, I guess you can still take comfort knowing that the doctors don't seem to be acting with any urgency, so it mustn't be a dire condition.  Keep us posted - we'll keep thinking good thoughts!

Well, first I should say,,,she didn't say there was no blockage,,,,I did'nt word that right. I think this was just the girl running the tests...that said it doesn't LOOK like any blockage.  Hope she is right.
Your right, doesn't seem like any big hurry to get to the bottom of it. Just makes me wish I knew if we could be something that could make it better,,or are we doing something to make it worse!
I guess I keep thinking of my friend who keeps telling me that I should not be telling him to walk.  Well, he does'nt walk far,,,or long...just yesterday I got him to go just a little further than we normally do,,,,but 15 min walk is not a lot.    Seems that has to be good for anoyone!
But then in the back of my mind...sure don't want to be making things worse.

Dyan - just curious, but why does your friend think he shouldn't be walking?  Is this the friend that's a nurse?  I tend to think like you that walking is always a good thing.  On the other hand, I know for people with vascular problems, it can cause more swelling.  Still, it doesn't seem that being sedentary would be healthy either.  I hope the when the Dr. gets the results you can get some more definitive answers to what the problem is and how to handle it.

I don't know Cathy. She is not a nurse.
I only know that the surgeon said his best patients WALK WALK WALK!   I also have to think that if anyone else thought it would not be good they would tell him to stay off of his feet.    He goes back to the surgeon before the regular doctor...wonder what he will have to say.

They told my friend the same thing about walking.  She had a physical therapist come to her home 2-3 times a week for the first few weeks, and on top of the walking she was doing, she had her do other exercises.  Your husband's surgery was more extensive than my friends though, so it isn't fair to compare.  She also didn't have the complications your DH is having, but I still don't think that being too sedentary is a good thing.  Hopefully the surgeon will have some good advice for you both.

Honestly not sure these are complications from surgery. It sure seems like it, but the doctor said she doesn't think it has anything to do with the surgery.  It will be interesting to note what the surgeon says when he goes back there though.

Hey Dyan.  How are things going for your husband?  I hadn't seen any posts from you for awhile and just wanted to check to see if things are okay.

Thanks so much for asking Cathy!  I do appreciate it!   I've been on everyday,,but get caught up reading notifications and all about all the food recalls.....and then I don't have time to read the rest of the things.
Frank went to the surgeon for his second check-up after surgery.  He doesn't have to wear his body brace any more...YAY!!!  ( you would have thought I would have come here to give THAT information,,,right??? )   But he starts therapy on Tues. for 6 weeks. I'm glad because SOMEONE will make him do something,,,lol!   Doctor said after his 6 weeks of therapy he can maybe swing the golf club a little...something we are all looking forward to.   As far as his feet problems,,,he said the swelling and redness seem to be pretty much gone,,,but his one toe seems to hurt.  THAT bothers me,,,seems I remember hearing toes and gout in the same conversation.   But he goes back to that doctor around May 12. They should have had the test results from the vascular doctor by now,, I assume that if there was anything they needed to do they would have called him by now!
    So far so good.
I think!   (  gee,,,after all the worry for months about the surgery,,,and then after,,,then this vascular thing,,,I'm afraid to think good things. )

I know exactly how you feel.  It does sound like things are going much better though and I'm so happy to hear he's out of the brace.  I think PT will be great for him too.  I've never had it, but I'd heard others say negative things like "it didn't help me at all", etc.  My friend really felt like it helped her though, so hopefully it'll be the same for your husband.  I'm sure the idea of being able to golf again has his eyes twinkling [:)].  It sounds like the swelling and vascular concerns might be resolving too.  Let's hope a sore toe is just a sore toe and nothing more serious [;)]

Dyan I'm glad you checked in -- see the dogs ARE easier.  You can shove a pill in liverwurst and say "eat this" and they will.  With husbands sometimes there isn't much you can do *sigh*!
