Billy's on his way to the vet (Callie)

I'll post later in health when I know more -- but it's 8:20 and wanted to ask for prayers and good thots for Billy -- I'm on my way to the vet -- Billy's going a bit off his food --with this dog that's BIG.

His bloodwork came back earlier this week with the liver values high -- I wasn't super concerned because of some extra meds he's been on.  I also thot *maybe* he was just really not liking all the meds in his food.  Been playing with holding back on certain things to see if it made a difference since Monday when I first saw this  -- David wasn't seeing that AT ALL (thot I was a bit over-nervous)

Holistic vet made some corrections Tues nite -- he's not totally 'off' food -- just not eating ALL his dinner (but then wants it later).  Finally this morning he only ate "some" of his breakfast and now David's concerned.

Am swamped big time at work but Dr. B won't be there at the end oft he day so I have to take off and get him in this morning (and even then they have to work him in).

I'd rather it would be liver than kidney -- we know both organs are a bit damaged from the IMHA treatment, but folks it is my worst nightmare that he'd have renal failure.  You can do more with liver toxicity to get rid of the toxins than you can with kidneys.

So I'm more than a bit freaked -- sometimes it's easier if you don't know "all" it could be.  Billy could really use good thots and prayers that this is something "fixable".

I was scared spitless -- the  nausea was coming on "slow" like it does with renal failure or liver failure.  His liver values had been high ....

HE JUST HAS A GUT ACHE!!!

He's got skillions of gut bacteria.  Dr. Bailey said he couldn't palpate any "firm" stool at all and it was so inflamed Dr. Bailey felt it hugely in his hands.  But Billy being Billy we ran bloodwork, etc.

The one liver value is down -- but another is *higher* (the ALT) but that honestly could be consistent wtih this massive of an amount of gut bacteria.  Still don't know why he's drinking so much but he is concentrating his urine and the kidney values are NOT high (phew).

He's staying on the Baytril (for the skin) but adding a pretty big dose of Metrnydazole (Flagyl) which should relieve the gut issues pretty fast.  Flagyl is often used to treat liver inflammation ANYWAY so no worries there.

Thank you all SO much.  I was freaked -- I also felt guilty because when David woke me this morning I thot it was THURSDAY so I thot I could take him to the vet on the other end of the day -- NOPE -- the vet's gone at 2 on friday.  gulp.

phew.  Thanks folks.  Dr. B was as worried as I was cos THIS dog never passed up a meal!!  He's a chow hound in a big way.  So for HIM to not finish dinner??  That's massive!!!

Now I gotta go to work and probably stay there til mid-evening cos I'm swamped.  But hey -- at least I can do it without worry!!

Yea!!!!!  Seems like its not nice to cheer for gut ache but in Billy's case Big Smile
