My bff's dog, Tate, needs vibes

My friend has been worried about her elderly lab Tate because he's been having more and more trouble getting up after laying down. I thought she had a vet appointment on Monday, but she took him in today and found out that he has a mass in his abdomen and an infection of some sort. He's been admitted and is on IV fluids/antibiotics and under observation for the time being.

She's very worried about him - he's the dog she grew up with and has been around for a lot of life events, so if you all could spare some famous idog vibes for him I know they'd both appreciate it!

I talked to my BFF and the news isn't good - Tate was having trouble breathing this afternoon so she took him in as an emergency. Xrays revealed a large mass in the abdomen that is starting to displace the intestines and bone spurs on the spine and a collapsed disc. Bloodwork showed high WBC and high amylase.

He's going to stay at the vets' until Monday and they'll see how he's doing then. The vet said they could do exploratory surgery to find out what the mass is but my friend isn't sure she wants to put him through that, especially since the incision would be right where any support harnesses for his rear end weakness would go, making recovery especially difficult. Sad

Please keep my friend and Tate in your thoughts - they're in a tough spot and my friend is worried that she may need to make a decision for Tate soon.

My friend got an update today: Tate is feeling better and his appetite has returned , so it would seem that the antibiotics (and all the good vibes) are really helping. He's still too weak to stand on his own, but she's going to bring him home tomorrow to see if he'll perk up some more once he's around his family. Thanks for keeping them in your thoughts!
