    Quick update:

The vet is keeping her for the day. She is in extreme pain at this time, and despite me giving her fluids (she would not get out of her bed to get a drink) she is still dehydrated. He is going to treat her for pain, but he is also doing a full blood work-up to rule out Lyme disease, pancreatitis, kidney/bladder stuff, and a CBC to look at her overall levels. He's also doing another urinalysis to see if there were any changes.

If those are all clear, then it comes back down to some sort of back injury, although he did all his little neurological tests and went over each disk and everything there was okay so far.

I have to go to work, hopefully it'll give me something else to focus on. Please keep her in your thoughts.

This absolutely sounds like the best course of action -- man, as sick as Luna was last week *I* didn't see it coming at all.  I'm glad she's with your vet and I'm glad he's not just focusing on one thing but is looking "broadly" for anything and everything.

Gaci girl has a pretty pink stickie on my printer to remind me to lift her (and you) up.

and here I go again to the Candle page -- it's just such a GOOD way to focus that healing energy, good thots, and prayer.

    Another quick update....

She will be staying at the vet until at least tomorrow night. She is on IV fluids, and he has given her a pain patch (sort of like a quit-smoking patch that delivers pain meds over time), and she's resting at this time.

All the bloodwork came back clear, which is a good thing. But then it comes back to a back injury of some sort, so that is the treatment plan at this time unless some other symptom arises to indicate otherwise (they've tested for most everything else). I don't know what will happen until he does another eval tomorrow morning, so I won't know much until then in terms of recovery and treatment.

I just know I'm so tired and just desperately want to see her and hold her and have her back with me, but I know she's in the best hands possible and that she is better off there where she has good pain meds, people watching over her, and no chance to run/jump/etc while she has some time to come back around.

Oh Kim, that sucks that she has to stay, but I'm glad that everything came back clear.  I hope that tomorrow morning brings good news.

    • Gold Top Dog

Gaci, hope you feel better soon!  Good thoughts for your girl, hope you can get some good news and improvement tomorrow.

Gaci will be able to come home this evening. I'm very happy to hear this. She is eating and drinking on her own, and eliminating normally. She's still in some pain but it's a lot less with the pain patch.

I'll give another, further update when I get her home and after I've spoken with the vet in person to discuss everything. I'll have a lot of questions in regards to treatment, recovery, and possible therapy as she heals.
