I only have a minute to update.  I don't know where the time goes but it sure goes. lol  Charles is settled in the rehab facility and had some evaluations from all of the therapy people today.  He said the physical therapy kicked his butt but he's glad to be doing something toward getting better.  They will set up his therapy based on today's reports from the therapists.

He's in good spirits and is looking better every day.  He called me just now and said he finally feels human.  He got to shower and wash his hair!!  He has been wanting that for quite a while now.

I'm going in to the office to try and keep that all going but will leave early every day to have time to spend with him and do all the other stuff here at home.  Why didn't I train the cat to potty in the toilet??   *slaps forehead*

Yes, I am eating and sleeping, as ordered. lol  I take all of your advice to heart because I know you are all right that I have to take care of myself in order to take care of him and the dogs and the house.  The dogs are doing fine and they are such a comfort when I get home.  They snuggle up all around me every night on the couch.  I know they miss Charles and I'm going to see about taking them up for visits.  I know the group who does the TD visits here so hopefully that will help.

Someone email me about Jan's baby!!!!!

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Ahhh - that really can be such a relief when you're in the hospital and can't wash your hair.  HOORAY!!!  It's just so awesome that he's progressing so well, that you have family & friend support, and his job/insurance to deal with the details of his hospital/rehab care.  Sending thankful vibes into the universe for all of this.  Glad to hear you're taking care of yourself, as "instructed" or "suggested" or "demanded", take your pick.

    ^^^ yea, that

I'm sure getting a shower and washing his hair really did improve his mood.  I know even when I'm just sick, I feel a little bit better after that, I'm sure its 10-fold in this situation.

I am so happy to read that you are eating and resting as directed :)

Much love to you both  (((hugs)))

Yay, Mr. J! Get that butt kicked back into shape!

Just checking in to get the latest on Charles -- excellent news that he's in rehab already and well enough to get right to PT.  It doesn't surprise me that it "kicked his butt."  When I had a few weeks of PT for a back problem, I thought I'd collapse a few times.  I said to myself, "Geez, I thought my back was the problem, but apparently my whole body needs help!"  As nice as the therapists are, they can feel like drill sargeants sometimes!  I'm sure he'll see improvement every day.

Isn't it remarkable what a shower and a hairwash can do for one's overall mood?  When my mother was released from the hospital after her intestinal surgery last fall, within 5 minutes of being home, she headed straight for the shower.  She said she felt like she had to wash off a week of hospital germs and grime!  That and a clean, comfy pair of PJs, and she was almost like new!

I hope everything continues to go as smoothly as possible -- and tell Charles not to get discouraged about short-term memory loss.  At least a couple times a week I walk out of my office and stop dead in my tracks because I can't remember what I got up for!  Stick out tongue  I know it's not the same thing in his case, but it's easier to deal with than other effects he could have been left with.  In time, you'll both adjust to it with patience and humor.
