Maybe because I sent her THREE emails basically saying I was going to bash her head in with my 2 x 4 if she didn't start taking care of herself. Big Smile

Just a suttle hint I am guessing, lol!

    Jackie, I guess you've been warned & I recommend you listen!!!  Don't mess with the 2 X 4!!!

Sending some more healing vibes and keeping the prayers coming!

We're off to Hilton Head, for a dog show, this weekend. Just wanted to check in, and let you and Mr Jackie know we're thinking about you, and praying for the best. Take care of yourself! Deb is scary!

I'm still keeping you and Charlie in my thoughts and prayers; ((((((hugs))))))

I hadn't checked the forum for a couple days, so I'm just catching up on your updates, Jackie.  I'm so sorry to hear that Charles had to undergo intestinal surgery.  I hope that his recovery continues to go well.  You're positive attitude is inspiring.

What a wonderful feeling it must be to see all the cards and emails coming in and to enjoy them with Charles.  And I can only imagine your reactions to the pasta card!  What a sweet and creative gesture!  My mother had emergency surgery last fall (actually, it was intestinal surgery, too), and every single time I spoke with her, she'd talk about all the beautiful cards she received.  She kept them in a special basket where she could re-read them as her recovery continued at home (and she still looks at them!).  You'll both be able to enjoy them together in days and weeks ahead, continuing to take in all the good vibes being offered.

As others have said, please take care of yourself. It's important that the caregiver gets good care, too!  Continuing to send good thoughts to both you and Charles.  Take care!

Jackie, I hope things keep getting better.  I am still thinking of you daily and I try to come here and check for updates as often as I can.  We're all still pulling for you and Charles and me and the pups are sending out some healing vibes!

Part of an email Jackie sent me:

just a quick note to tell you Charles is doing well.  He walked a little yesterday.  He still hasn’t been allowed to eat or drink because he hasn’t moved his bowels.  He’s  not really hungry but I guess laying in bed mostly doesn’t build much appetite.  They are talking about moving him out of the critical care unit today.  I wish they would keep him there but I don’t have much to say in the decision. His neurosurgeon has the final word on the move.

Deb sent me a big box of food! These gourmet meals, frozen and shipped with dry ice.  Fancy stuff that looks delicious.  She’s crazy sweet.

My sis is here and that’s a good thing.

Jackie, we're here for you and Charles in our minds and hearts even if we can't be with you physicallyxoxo

I spoke with Jackie last night and she asked me to give you all a little update.  As Tina said, Charles is doing well and moving around a bit in a effort to the get the bowels moving in the right direction again.  Jackie is still busy taking care of him and handling the more mundane tasks like connecting with his job to make sure Charles is getting all the benefits he deserves.  In a crazy twist of fate, Charles works for a large, nationally known Fortune 500 company.  When Jackie mentioned the name, I almost fell over because my Dad was General Counsel for the east coast division of this company for over 10 years before he retired.

So, if they jerk Mr. Jackie around (I don't think they will) my Pop can jump in and swing his 3 x 6 around (he's much more influential than me - therefore the bigger board).  Anyway, Jackie would have posted herself, but she really needed to take a night to just chill with her dogs and drink copious amounts of wine with her sister, Jan.

Again, Jackie really, really cherishes all the well wishes, cards, and good thoughts everyone is sending her.  She is particularly touched by how some of the newest members of the forum are reaching out to her via postings and pm's.  She is so looking forward to becoming  fast friends with all of you!!!

    ROFL. That's funny Deb.

I'm glad everyone is so impressed with the pasta card :) It was a work of ART.

    Keep on chugging, Mr. Jackie!!

So happy to see another good update :).  You two are constantly in our thoughts.  Please take care, I'd hate to see what Deb can do w/ that 2x4....

Deb, when I spoke to Jackie last week, she mentioned the company name and said "his pay is so-so but the insurance is incredible."   That in itself must be a huge relief.  Small world that your dad worked for the same company.

And wouldn't your dad have a 4 x 8?  I mean, it's like your 2 x 4 squared, and since he's your dad, I think it should be twice as big.  LOL

You would think, but my Dad is a humble guy.  A 3 x 6 works just fine for him !!

I'm glad to read another positive update. I've been holding my breath much of this week. When my dad had his surgery for the diverticulitis, there were post-op complications (common with this type of surgery) within a day or so. I was living in Germany and was told I needed to rush home. He had to have a 2nd surgery and his spirits had sunk so low, they were worried about him surviving, but he did and lived 20+ yrs more. I'm so glad that Charles has done better and hopefully with the walking, he'll get more of an appetite and that'll lead to things moving along better. I continue to say prayers for improvement everyday for Charles and peace and comfort for you Jackie. I hope you're enjoying every minute of your time with your sister.

Awww, just the type of news I like to hear!

Keep improving Mr. J, and Sis, keep Jackie on the straight and narrow as far as taking care of herself goes.....
