Well at least he's already *in* the hospital where he'll get the best care for diverticulitis --

 I left some envelopes laying around the house w/stamps on them and dang but one of them made its way into my purse this morning ... so I ***HAD*** to mail it ... ya know???  It was pretty thick and the Adventurin E.C. spanYELL tends to be the verbose one (not that I wouldn't know it if I SAW *verbose* --- sheesh) -- Luna tends to be a dog of fewer words (with all the whining she does you'd *think* she'd go on and on ....)  but I dunno ... if the pug ever learns to settle down and quit zooming around I suspect she'll be chattering non-stop too.

But heck ... at least it will provide Charles with some comic relief ...

We are still thinking of you both and I'm checking back every night for updates. 

From an email Jackie sent me last night:

Charles did have surgery to repair the perforated colon.  We talked to the neurosurgeon before accepting the fact that this was the least risky choice.  They couldn’t take a chance on big infection with his brain still fragile.  I feel like I’m in a bad TV movie.  But he came thru it fine, although lots of pain when he woke up.  They finally gave him enough drugs to get it under control.  That was tough to watch.  I had to get home to the dogs but I’m hoping he’ll stay asleep.  The dogs are doing ok but of course they’re freaked out a bit.  Their schedules are all wacky.  They’ve been so great to get home to at night and they just smother me with kisses. 

She is not getting enough sleep, or eating very well, so I hope her sister will be a big help, at least getting Jackie to eat.  She flies in Thursday (tomorrow) and leaves Monday the 8th.

They are still receiving cards and can't thank everyone enough.

Thanks for the update.  So sorry he required surgery, but hopefully Charles can rest up and recover with out any more excitement.  Jacki, easier said than done but please try to take care of yourself.  good thoughts and (((hugs))) still coming!

 Oh dear I was so hopeful he wouldn't need surgery.  More quick, uneventful healing vibes coming his way.

Jackie sweetie you must take care of yourself, you need to be healthy and stay healthy.

I hate being so far away, I have such an urge to deliver a boatload of food and to take the pups for a run.

 Sorry Mr. Jackie had to have surgery.  But hopefully now he's over the bumps and can just work on recovering.  More prayers and good thoughts coming for you.

Jackie, I am sorry that there is no breathing room yet but sounds like the surgery was  necessary for the focus on the brain recovery.   When your sis comes you need to let her help you....I found it hard to tell people what I needed or to ask for help. 

I am here to tell you, dont hesitate to ask for help and you take advantage while she is there and get some rest cause when Charlie comes home there will not be much time for rest at first.

I am sorry to hear he had to have another surgery. Hopefully, that was the last bump in the road and it's all good from here. I'm sending some "get well" vibes your way!!

Don't forget to take care of yourself, try to sleep and eat some food.

Oh shoot.  But, on the plus side, this surgery perhaps will prevent any further recurrances.  DH has had a few of those nasty infections and they are horrid.

Jackie - I'm sorry Charles had to have this surgery. I know the risk of infection post-op is significant so I'm going to add extra strong prayers for you both to my day. You already know this but please try to eat and sleep well. I'm so glad your sister is arriving tomorrow and I know you must be too. I hope today brings some good news on the recovery progress for Charles.

Been checking in and praying for you guys daily Jackie!  Try to get some rest and make sure you are eating to fuel your body.  ((((HUGS))))
