I'm scared--I need a prayer circle.

Great Job Willow!  Lori the vet tech!!!!  I'm sure my dogs would be thrilled to have you as their tech!

    How's the swelling looking today?

    • Gold Top Dog

Lori, I'm so relieved that Miss Willow is doing o-k.  She is so blessed to have you in her life.  Please give her some rubbies from me & keep us up on how her snout is doing.

Thank you everyone!  Thank you so much!

She's still the same.  But, it could take a day or so to start to see a change.  In the meantime, she's still feeling OK and eating well.  I've got to start her on a little diet today.  She weighed in at 52.7lbs yesterday and that's getting a little too big for her frame.

Sometimes a little weight gain is a good sign.....but not wanted none-the-less.

Glad you checked in Lori.... I guess it it doesn't look MORE swelled....thats a good sign too.

GOOD!  A little diet, fine, but so long as her appetite is good and she's feeling good, I'll hold onto that as good news.  Fingers crossed that the swelling goes away without further incident.

Gracie says she'll trade diets with Willow.  She weighed 66.6lbs yesterday, and normally she's more like 69/70.  Smooches for beautiful Willow - hope they fill her up as much as a yummy big meal. lol

It's good to know they don't think it's serious and that she's still feeling good. I hope the swelling goes away soon. I pulled a tick off of Jessie's ear last December, so it's quite possible that Willow was bit by an insect.

I was just thinking, could you try a warm compress of epsom salts on Willows snout to help pull any toxins out?  I mean if it's an insect bite it will help.

Awww! Fluffy Willow! Isn't it great to see a dog that's had such a struggle with food get chubby???

    You gorgeous girl....get better soon.  Sending virtual warm compresses soaked in epsom salt to help you feel better.  {{{hugs}}}

It's mom's fault completely!  I am waaay too generous with the toppers--tilapia filets, I've been making her roast beef in the crock pot, turkey. . .

I was always afraid that if she was "just right" and got sick again she'd be skin and bones.

I think I will try to Epsom salts!  I gave her another Benedryl before I left for work.  DH is staying home to watch her.  And, I'm off Monday so if she's still swollen I'm taking her back in.  I've googled this a bunch and nothing comes up other than insect bites.

I was THRILLED when Emma started on Z/D and got FAT, for the first time in her life, LOL. Of course, she then went right onto a diet, and lost it, but after having so many issues? Wow! This is COOL!

You are right, Jennie--even her regular vet thought it was great when I told her what she weighed--she did the thumbs up sign.

Honestly, Lori, that's why I keep Pirate a little thicker than his "just right" point. His vets all agree with me - better to be safe than sorry!

Lori! Glad to hear things are looking OK for Willow. And I loved reading about how YOU showed Willow's mouth to the vet. Hmm, with my own must-be-muzzled boy I'll keep that trick in mind.

You know, about 2 years ago, right before I was supposed to leave on a fun trip (sans the dogs) Ellie got up and vomited up blood. I about died. I'm not kidding. I thought she was dying. About an hour later she was at the vet's, in the front check-in area, and the vet tech said, "Have you seen how swollen her mouth is?" Again, I about died. Did I see that? No! (She has that beard you know.)

Anyway, she got into something. I wondered at first if it was a bee (and it could have been) but it was late September and I'm with Callie, I think she found a spider inside and she was bit. She vomited up blood because for some medical reason (Callie knows, I don't remember and I struggle with medical specifics anyway) but she was struggling to really breathe well with that puffy muzzle and swollen throat.

I feel your worries. I do. Give W a kiss from us.

PS--I'm with you on staying home. I missed the trip.
