Thanks guys for your love and care of Willow!
I took her this morning. And, although we didn't see our regular vet I was very happy because I knew her from the emergency vet. She's a board certified emergency vet. So, we had a more than qualified sub for our vet.
She definately is swollen. And, frankly I was relieved that she agreed with me because it is so slight that you could almost miss it.
It could be number of things but she's thinking something bit her on the muzzle. It's so odd because this is New England in January! Leave it to her to stick her nose in some mutant bug that can live thru freezing cold temps!! I'm going to try Benedryl for a few days. And, see how it looks. If it's still like this next week then I've got to take her back and they will go from there. But, she wanted to stay conservative for now.
I got to be the tech for her because of it being her mouth and muzzle area that needed to be examined. She actually told the regular tech that she could leave--I was doing fine!! I know I missed my true calling now. Willow sat nicely while I opened her mouth, showed her all her teeth and gums and we really looked all along the gums to make sure there wasn't anything like a sore or something causing the swelling. She did fine. It was cute at first she started growling and she said, "Oh, Willow, I'm not even going to touch you your mom is going to show me everything." Like I said, I missed my true calling, I could of stayed there all day helping her.
Anyway, thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers. We may need them again next week. I'm hoping this is just a minor bite. But, this is Willow--nothing is simple!
I took the night off to stay home with her and hang out. My husband had to go into work so she would of been alone. I'm not crazy about medicating her and then her being alone--even if it is just Benedryl.
