Run free, Patrick.  Your life was an incredible journey and I know you will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved you.

Well said indeed. *hugs* for your sister and yourself Paige :(

Paige, I've been following your thread about Patrick and keeping him and your sister in my thoughts, even though I haven't posted before now.  Your post last week describing the life your sister and Patrick shared was so moving that I had to immediately leave it so I wouldn't cry at my desk.  They've had so many wonderful years of adventure together, and I hope those memories bring your sister comfort in time.  But now, I'm sure she will just try to get through each day despite being so heartbroken and not having her "big guy" next to her to lean on (literally).

I remember your posts about his surgery and his amazing progress with the physical therapy in the water.  He was obviously a very special dog with an incredible spirit.  He and your sister were blessed to find each other, and I know he'll have a presence in her life always.  I hope it helps her to know that so many others understand her grief.

Run free and breathe easy, Patrick.  Watch over your family as they adjust to your physical absence.

Sending my condolences as well.  Run free Patrick.  Your work here is done...now rest and breathe easy.  (((Sis)))

So sad...rest easy at the Bridge, Patrick. Hugs for all who love him.

There are SOME dogs ... when they get over the Bridge they are happy and gamboling around having fun.  There are other dogs who creep over the Bridge -- who get to the bottom and are almost sad and when they are told "But you won't hurt here" they say "But SHE'S ALONE -- I COULDN'T STAY **ANY** LONGER -- I didn't WANT to leave her.  I'm **SO** worried!"

And those dogs are shown to that spot just a little ways away -- where they come down to the water of the River of Life that runs *under* the Bridge.  And they are shown that when they look into that River of Life -- they SEE their family or whever they are worrieda about.  In fact sometimes I think they are allowed to see a little in the future ... or perhaps are able to give direction as to what new companion their people may NEED.

How often have we all heard someone say "I think he SENT this dog to me!" --

Isn't Heaven or Rainbow Bridge or whatever we want to call it supposed to give ALL of us what we most want?  Why would that be withheld from our faithful friends?  Who knows us better?

I think that's sometimes what keeps angels busy.  That's my own thot but ... well, it's what I think anyway.

Thank you all - these are beautiful sentiments and I will be sharing with her tonight.

Patrick had what his mom called "HAPPY TAIL" or "Propeller Tail"- when his fluffy long tail would move in a circle b/c he was so happy.  I keep thinking that his Propeller Tail helped him navigate with his new angel wings on his way up to the Rainbow Bridge.

Just coming onto the forum for the first time today.  So sorry to hear that Patrick has passed on.  I will be thinking of you, your sister and family.  It is so very hard to lose a good friend and companion.  My condolences to all of you, especially your sister.

I talked to my sister tonight and Henry is adjusting in odd ways.  It hasn't been quite a full week, but she says he's much calmer.  Maybe fewer chances to "claim" everything as "his" has settled down some aspects of his personality.  Used to be that if Patrick moved sometimes, Henry would jump up and get in his face and claim the toy/couch/proximity to mom or food/ or even just the general path that Patrick was walking on.  Henry was plastered to his mom for the first two days, but now seems assured that he's the Top Dog and feels better.  Weird little guy.

Thank you all again for the support.  It's hard to watch a family member lose their best friend of 10 years.  I'm just really thankful she was granted the time to say goodbye.  Rest in Peace, Patrick, aka Patty-Rick, aka FatMan, aka Patricia, aka BigGuy.  We love you.
