Prayers for Cricket the kitty

Sometimes you have to reteach muscles what to do -- good luck!! My prayers and good thots are there for you!

There is part of me that thinks just maybe her tail will heal, I know it's slim, but things like this happen sometimes. She just needs lots of love and care, and when I agreed to take her I also agreed to give her the care she needs throughout her life. Smile

Cricket is home now, she visably seemed happier when she saw me @ the vets, and really perked up as soon as we walked through the door, she could smell that she was home. We decided to let her roam the living room with all the other rooms blocked off.  She's laying behind the couch now.

They showed me at the vet's how to drain her bladder, I couldn't hardly feel anything discernible though! Crying we had a vet tech come in and try to show me some more, as well as my BF. They went ahead and drained her there, I'm hoping I can get her to drain a bit this evening, or else i'm going to take her back for help Crying

She started to get really mad after about 5 minutes of attempted bladder squishing. I'm really hoping I can master this, it really comes down to me to help her.  I'm gonna look up some diagrams and see exactly where kitty bladders are, they really tried to show me as best as possible, but I'm no vet!!

So here's my cricket monster, laying behind the couch, happy to be home ( but probably not going to be happy about the butt bath she'll be getting soon!!)

Bets of luck to both of you and I really hope she makes a full recovery.  You both seem very determined!!

Cat bladders are pretty tricky things. I had to do this to one of my cats for a while -- it is hard to learn, but you'll get the hang of it. Feel better Cricket!

Positive thoughts for recovery for your very, very pretty kitty, Cricket.

Cricket monster is doing ok, she stayed behind the couch all day. She's not interested in food or water, but thats stress and she's probably not feeling too hot with all the medication.  I couldn't get her bladder to express, but my bf got a bit of urine out of her. She does not like it and lets us know! I think I'm not feeling firm enough, i'm afraid I'll hurt her. cleaned her up afterward and now she's in the big dog crate for the night with her food ( with tuna!) water and litter box.

Cricket is adorable !  I hope she is feeling better soon.  I'm sure just being home is helping.  Smile

Last night's expressing was pretty good, I grabbed some of Zoey's puppy pads ( that I never used lol) and we expressed her over one of those. Seems less stressful than taking her outside.  Medication went down well, I even got some purring!! of course that was BEFORE expressing and meds.

This morning, she passed two little poo's so thats good. I even got her to play a little bit. She still hates expressing, she's ok for the first couple seconds, then gets upset and tries to get away.:(

she also hates the baths afterwards ( little sponge bath)

I'm glad you are getting the hang of expressing her bladder.  I'm sure she must think you have turned into some sort of sadist intent on mashing her to death. lol   Continued good vibes for Cricket.

we had a good night last night! she ate some food!! I had to bring it to her, but she ate some! YAY! getting more and more water in her, she's still not drinking on her own, she gets it via syringe. Still good in my mind. Still hates getting expressed. I tried this morning with BF holding her and she wasn't having it. she seems to cooperate more if I'm holding her. I think we might try 'aiming' her for her mini litter box tonight, so we don't have to keep buying  potty pads. Progress though. yay.

She also played alot last night, she was really into it!! I was VERY happy about that. I think the pain killers make her feel yucky though.

Cricket has been hanging in there, eating, drinking, and even playing in her litter box, we still have to express her everyday. But this morning I saw she tried to go poo in the litter box, she almost made it too!! So I think thats promising.

I hate seeing her having to stay in the ex pen right now, but she'll be out soon. I've got lots of ideas of how to make things easier on her.

She's going in to get her tail amputated tomorrow. yay and ugh( financial ugh)

But I've got some ideas, I want to have her wear diapers, since she's still pretty incontinent- i've been having to wash her bed every other day, and gets mad when all she has is a towel when the bed is in the wash. So i think if i had her wear a diaper, then put a onesie on her it might all stay on!

I've also been contempltaing building a 'sling' for expressing, right now it still takes two people to do it, one to hold her, and one to squeeze.

My BF is going to australia soon, so i gotta get something figured out. But ya i want to make a sling I can slip on her, then carry her over to where i usually have Zoey's time out spot ( has an eye ring near the ceiling), but i want to have a strap that her sling clips to, then wahla! floating kitty ready for expression!! I know it sounds really crazy but I think it'll work. I think it'll make her happier too.

My other idea is to make a sling/harness combo, something she can wear frequently, so I don't have to try to get a sling on her every time it's time to express, it would do double duty also - by keeping the diaper on too!!

I think she'll get over wearing a diaper just to be able to sleep in bed with us again!

Aw shoot! I had a ton of onsies, I just donated them. Anyway, I used to get them at the dollar store. They are cotton/poly blend instead of 100% cotton but Tiki never cared :)
