Anthropomorphism: beneficial to dogs or not. Why or why not?

there is no need to engage in dominance voodoo rituals regardless of what breed(s) you have. Dogs don't think people are dogs and there is no way your dogs think you are the "alpha" of the pack regardless of what you do or don't do because you're clearly not a dog.

Auroalove has cleared this up, at least for me.  It is her way of giving the dogs structure and order which every dog thrives on.  It has nothing to do with "dominance voodoo rituals" but for certain, some dog owners think that way and I see it alot in other dog forums.

     Thanks for that DPU! Wink

This is a fun topic! I just went and looked up Merle's Door and ordered it from amazon. I've been a snob and only really read Patricia McConnell and Diane Jessup because too many dog books are full of mumbo jumbo but I'm excited to read something with more of a story that still has speculative and somewhat researched points!

I hope you enjoy it even half as much as I did - for me it has remained thought provoking.  Part of me realizes that there is a lot of Merle in Bugs or vice versa.  He even has a website where you can see pictures or he and Merle's life that is described in the book

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the book
