Word discussion: Correction, punishment

The touch is there, subtle gestures are there, markers are there. Very positive. Just because it didn't involve a piece of plastic and tin (clicker) didn't mean that the training wasn't marker training. And I wasn't referring to you, 4IC, though you kind of fit this profile, too.

Yeah. When I think of the gentle loving touch of pressure that I use to orient Jaia before feeding time, knowing someone is judging that as harsh or some kind of punishment, just because I'm touching my dog... it's just silly.

It's become a ritual now. Everyone sits for dinner and Jaia sits, but in the wrong place. It's been so many times, that I have reached around him to orient him correctly that now, he automatically sits in the wrong place, I reach my arm around him and he scoots over to the right place, without me even touching him. Like he thinks that's the right way to do it. "Sit here, then when she moves her arm around me, I scoot." It's just one of our quirky little imperfections that I love.

Yeah, I could have taught him to sit in the right place but who cares? It's not important. I have other priorities.

He learned a chain. It's interesting how what was molded became hands off on a visual cue.

What I like about hands off training is that I can command at a distance, even out of sight, as long as Shadow can hear my voice, though I also use hand signals.
