I find it odd

Jaime has repeatedly said that ALL of us are welcome to post any place we would like to post on the forum, but the rules SUGGEST that +R folks will be happier in other training areas.

As one of the "rule breakers"....I posted on only one thread in the scared topic.  I did not post in a negative manner, and I did so BEFORE I read the rules that I misinterupted.

That pretty well shoots A in the foot.  B as well since I didn't say anything negative and as I now understand it, that's all the rule states.  I will not even address either c or d, other than to say I'm guessing you've never had the pleasure of receiving one of Jaimes PRIVATE messages.  I would put forth option F....none of the above.

We're not discussing religion at a tail party

Sometimes, it's hard to tell the difference. Even in some of the doozies that would happen in the nutrition threads.

I was and am still ambivalent as to how this might work out. Maybe it will. I agree with another post in that most of us may see value in several types of training and normally don't get into tussle over it.

    I read from several sources.

And I could put all of you guys to sleep if I start explaining how a t.v. works.

It is hard to believe that grown ups can NOT get along, let alone on the internet.

Some of the members here claim to be trainers/professionals, I find that hard to believe considering the banter between some members.

I am totally amazed by the lack of self control[8|]

Doesn't it still work the same way the old CRT's did?  Electron beams shooting onto an electrically charged surface?

This might be an interesting thread after all!

Well, I for one have never claimed to be a trainer.  I am the self proclaimed expert on nothing.  I'm just an old broad with a lot of dog experience under my belt.  I have SIX german shepherds who are well behaved animals, who I can walk in town or off lead with deer crashing through the woods and who will recall perfectly to me regardless of the situation.  Five of them have earned their CGC.  One pup spent two months in his "new" home before coming back to me totally screwed up and HE is the dog who was able to do the 6 mile MS Walk with me and was so completely and TOTALLY focused on the walk he wouldn't even take a treat.....and I had to tell him to drink water.

I personally become frustrated when someone asks a specific question, I offer suggestions and immediately someone comes behind me and says the DOG (who is a 10 or 11 week old PUPPY) has a fixation and links to CM.  And that while it might be cute to let the puppy do whatever he wants to do.....blah blah blah.....

In the particular thread I'm discussing, the pup is snagging rocks.  In MY opinion, given the pups age, he needs something uber hard to chew on, such as raw bones.  I did not come to this opinion from reading books or watching videos.  I came to this opinion by raising DOZENS of pups, and particularly pups of the breed in question.  But, someone has to come right behind me with the CM link and confuse the new owner with a bunch of gobbledy gook.  It is FRUSTRATING to try and offer someone genuine help and have someone come right behind you and basically say, without saying it, that you are stupid, your advice is stupid and the only one that can possible fix this problem is some superstar trainer.

I've been on idog for almost three years.  Anyone who has been here for more than a nano-second has come to respect that I don't talk through my rear and that gee, I might know what I'm talking about when I offer suggestions because I've been there, done that, bought the tshirt, and made my own mistakes along the way.  Had someone linked to Ian Dunbar or ANY of the +R trainers for the same question I would STILL have thot it to be a bit over the top because we are talking about a danged puppy who needs some harder chew stuff provided to him.  Not a fixated dog who has a long history of a problem.  Now had the pup been chewing rocks for months and months, THEN we would need more expert advice than I can offer.

So excuse me if I don't always hold my temper.

It's quite normal for most humans to lose they tempers in certain situations, however when one chooses the profession of working with dogs...there's no place for it. It is...counter productive. IMPO

Oh...and perhaps I don't spend enough time here (do to lack of free time) but where is this...Cesar's only thread?
    • Gold Top Dog
Perhaps some find working with dogs far less frustrating and have no reason to loose their temper with dogs as they do with obstinate human beings.

It is natural to have some issues when people with different opinions get thrown in the same arena, that being said, I still don't understand how things get so bad.

I belong to some music forums, and there you get a good portion of members who happen to be in their late teens/ early twenties, there I have seen this kind of behavior and name calling. Here I got the feeling we were dealing with a little more mature crowd, but I am not so sure anymore. I guess maturity can't be messured with age.

And yet another one bites the dust..name calling, rude behavior...

I see a shock collar being pulled out of the closet and getting dusted off out in the distance
