CM, his pack, and their relationship.

if it means saving difficult dogs that have no future, and maybe they don't get to cuddle every night........who gives a crap?

No of course they are not shutting him down. He is operating a clean, reasonably safe boarding facility with some rescue dogs and some client dogs. From reading his book I believe he selects a few each night to go home with him. He is well funded to do so.  I'm all for that and I very much admire CM's public stance against BSL. I just don't believe it is the environment all dogs would be estatic in and am disturbed at the level of venom when something of CM's isn't automatically assumed to be perfect for all dogs at all times. I doubt he sees it that way at all. If you will notice at no time did I say his facility should be closed, that I feel he shouldn't expand to Santa Clarita or anything else negative. Yet you and a few others jumped out some using swear words in shorthand, some twisting language, name calling etc.

Why is my opinion arrogant because I haven't seen the facility and yours is not arrogant because you haven't seen the facility? Must all things CM must be absolutely wonderful or people are attacking him? Not true. I think Best Friends is a wonderful organization and donate money to them , but disagree that they are airlifting dogs from Bagdad while so many die in shelters here. Save the venom for real attacks.

Argh, this is getting more silly by the minute.......I am out, you can continue debating with yourself.

I think it is arrogant for some to assume that a certain amount of dogs will not allow for a good relationship with a dog. One does not need to baby or cuddle with a dog to have good relationship, some breeds are more needy than other.

I ring in with 5, and I believe I have a good relationship with mine, I have more around at times because I board or foster.

I agree as long as there is quality time for one on one at the beginning, mostly to establish leadership and bonding.  Group activity whether it be 2 or 40 dogs also builds the relationship.

Snownose, how do you handle the 5 dogs on a walk or an outing.  Are they off-leash?  Thats got to be 500lbs of dog to handle.  Presently, I have 5 that over 700lbs combined and although I trust mine to behave, I never know about the fosters.

Ron, I respect and admire all rescues from the woman who quietly adopts a middle aged pit bull to the highly publicized ones. This thread was supposed to be about his individual relationship with a large number of dogs rather than praise of his commitment to rescue. Sorry I didn't get into joining the praise when he announced plans for his new facility. My MIL died and I wasn't in the mood to post anywhere for a while. I'm sure you do understand.

Sometimes I think I should print out my posts and give them to my dog to read; they would be better received.

What is the point of this thread? I thought we were talking about what makes a dog-human relationship? Why are we talking about absurdist scenarios of shutting down a shelter so we can all cuddle a dog to death, that no one really believes in but makes a snappy argument? Is the point of this entire forum just to talk complete tomfoolery until the thread is completely beyond sense and then just start a new thread that's never going to go anywhere?

Agh, I need to stop even bothering to come in here....

DPU, 5 dogs I trust off leash, they are my own.....in the photobucket link in my sig line you see 4 of them, the oldest, Luke sits out some of the romping sessions, he is going on 14, so, I don't blame him.[;)]

Any fosters or boarders are not allowed off leash for different reasons, unless I trust the behavior of the foster. Boarders are never allowed off leash outside the kennels.

...And yet, some are compelled to return, again and again...is puzzlement. [8D]

I spent an evening going through all of the old threads where Cesar's name first came up.

    Fascinating. [;)]

Um, the nutrition and breeding threads...scary. [:(]

Doesn't matter. You take who you are with you no matter what forum you participate in. Being "nice" in one area and and then baiting, antagonizing, and dumping in another, is kinda like letting your dog poop in somebody else's yard. [;)]

Now, what was the topic again? Here's another thought, should dogs be allowed to remain intact and breed at will because it will make them "happy", because Cesar seems to only keep "fixed" dogs...except for Daddy...he's still packin'. [8D]

At least my dogs would enjoy shredding them. LOL. I need for it to quit raining. Then I am too busy to venture into the CM section. If I had the time and money I'd love to have a senior rescue, but would probably have to limit it to about 10 with DH's full time help.

Why not do something positive with your boredom and open up an informative and lighthearted thread based on a personal experience which might help someone, instead of venting your excess energy "nit-picking" and trying to stir things up in the CM area, just to kill time? [:D]

This is really getting old, and more than a little sad. [:(]

Go visit the clicker threads - the one about clickers taking over fruit baskets and microwaves.  Very lighthearted.   Even ron thinks so.
We really are having fun over there, and everyone is welcome. [:)]

Okay, off-topic but worth it! [:D]

LOL! That's the "Secret Society" thread! I've read through that one three times, and laughed hard every time. A treasure to be sure..."Even ron thinks so". [;)]

So, you're peeing and marking all over CM now because you're MIL died when we were initially discussing at another time his new center?

Trust me, I know all about losing a family member. I'm just not sure how that relates to not granting him some kudos of his rescue work or crapping on him because he has more than 4 dogs.

    • Gold Top Dog
Ron, Where did I "Pee & Mark" all over CM??? (and what an ugly phraseology that is).
Where did I say he should only have four dogs???  I expressed a preference for certain things. Go read my first post. Everything else has been the result of others attacking my opinion. And opinion is how it was phrased. There was no attack upon the opinions of other posters or upon CM. Several times in this thread I gave him credit for rescue. I suggested the dogs of Ron Artest should go to him. I'm not sure if you read about Ron Artest or not but he's a basketball player that had animal control remove his dogs.  Something wrong with that suggestion?

When my MIL died I didn't post anywhere. That means in no place. I apologize for missing that thread. It wasn't sarcastic.

If CM's supporters are this viscious, it does him no favors. It makes him seem as if he attracts certain types of people that are best avoided and one wonders why.

I was responding to attacks on my opinions. Really.

And no I don't take advice about how to spend my time from someone who spends the evening re-reading the CM threads to look for new ways to attack others.
