Speaking from general ignorance with these devices, but with an understanding of the canine nose which is like 1000 times greater than our own, I have a problem with a corrective device which leaves a lingering reminder of the correction.

To me, the best alternative is to be proactive and to use preventive training, so that neither is necessary.  [:)]

There is little arguement in setting a dog up for success, in the first place. [;)]

I am sure when deciding what makes the cut, how relevant it is is considered.  Besides, he handles a lot of volatile dogs.  Most of us don't.  It follows that the least "harsh" methods will be fine for most people and more harsh ones (possibly off screen) won't be.

Ok, I've been doing this a long time, and everything I do is right in front of the client. I never had to inflick injury on a dog to *help* him or her, so what would these "harsh" methods be that he might be using that *we* can't or shouldn't see? We all seen Cesar take a dog off his/her front feet to stop a bite, we've seen him give leash corrections, we've seen him poke them, put them down on their side. I'm curious, just what is it *some* of you are "speculating" he's doing off camera? How ridiculous. Your telling me this guys hurting dogs off camera  ***AND*** nobody has it on tape. And if that's not what your saying, just what is it your insinuating? (He does bad stuff to the really bad dogs, that they would never show on TV.)   But keep on digging  folks, by the time you reach China you realize, yep! ridiculous.

It's not a device I'd ever suggest my client use. Those who work with dogs who do scent work understand the importance of scent to a dog.

And that's great if one gets a pup. However a lot of people rescue dogs, so.
