No, not people's enjoyment, but when people say they like him precisely because he doesn't have an academic background, I have to think they don't have a high opinion of people with academic backgrounds. Now, if they said they liked him in spite of that fact, or that fact didn't make a differece one way or the other, that's another thing. But I was just addressing the frequently placing of his lack of academic study firmly into the PLUS column for some of his fans.

I must have missed that one. I've never heard someone say they were a fan because he didn't have any kind of degree.

Oh geez I hear it all the time. Here on this very forum, and definately a lot in more john-q-public oriented forums like dogster. He doesn't have all that book-learning messing up his pure observational approach. And people seem to think that if you have an academic degree in animal behavior it means you just read books and papers and never actually work with animals, which of course isn't true but people all the time say they trust Cesar MORE because he actually works with animals instead of just reading about them.

That is without a doubt the most rediculous thing I've ever read. It's funny how the anti Cesar crowd will say about anything to make him, his techniques, and the people who like him, look bad. How sad.

Some parents took it to mean they could do anything to the child, whenever, and without consequences. And did just that. And absolutely nothing could be done about it. No by family, friends, and definitely not by the children themselves.

A few of my friends from 'good families' lived a life of hell due to this philosophy.

There are still plenty of abusive parents out there today as were when you were a child. There will always be the extreme in any case, whether it be how parents are perceived or CM.

I just don't happen to perceive CM as an extreme case. I've never seen him physically hurt or abuse a dog. A lot of what he does is way overblown in the abuse dept. IMO.
