well, as far as the Millan topic goes I've found that there are three choices, the two predominant ones are either worshiping or bashing.

Myself, I do neither. But I certainly will comment on what the bashers say. I love using all the the techniques I've learned because I'm aware that no one technique works for evey dog. A simple and true fact. IMO

    Here here! [sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif]

    Eley,

The third option is why this forum was created in the first place.

I think is more like one side bashing and the other side trying to explain is not wrong, i dont think one single person here thinks "if you dont like CM then you are wrong" (which would mean worshiping), every problem starts with the CM bashing, and i dont remember one single example of CM imposing, i remember a lot of CM explaining but not imposing

every problem starts with the CM bashing

Actually I think every problem starts with someone disagreeing (either way), and someone else taking that disagreement personally. Which would not be worshiping or bashing perse, but the reactions themsleves are pretty fanatical.

Yes I agree, I don't think one "side" or the other is always instigating.... but as soon as one person takes something too personally or makes an unnecessary sarcastic comment, the whole thread blows apart.

I for one am going to try my best to read every post with open-mindedness and with the hope to take and give something useful from it. If I haven't got anything useful to say, I will just shrug my shoulders and not post. [:)]  I think seeing Lori and Sheprano recently leave the forum really bothered me, it sucks to see things like that happen just because we can't all play nice....

I agree some of them go personal but i have never seen one single person that thinks +R should not exist, most of the people cant back up their points with their own techniques and start attacking the other person's methods

I think a good part of the issues would be eliminate if posts were read and not skimmed.  The posts should be view in whole and not in snippets.  Also, we need to evict those little gremlins in our minds carried over from previous posts and reset the mind tone anew.

Ahhh! Well said! I know I have to make a conscious effort to read what is actually in the post and not filter it through my prejudice of the person doing the posting. There's many times I've wanted to ignore a post by "that snotty lady" or "that obnoxious guy" but that can get you in trouble in these longer threads. And many of the threads crash when we get the "here he/she goes again" comments.

I've been on message boards where you can put specified members on "ignore" so their posts won't show up. I wonder if that would extiguish any undesired behaviors - or if the behavior is self-rewarding [:)] Perhaps a good ssshht! is in order! [:D]

You mean those little voices that are always telling me that chocolate cakes are evil? [;)

I think that's it in a nutshell!  It's sometimes way too easy to spout off at the keyboard because you aren't staring a human being in the face as you're spouting.  It makes personal attacks too easy and then the threads are shutdown.  If we all stopped, took a breath and checked our emotions before typing, I don't think much of this would happen.

BTW...I love the show idea "Pitt Bull"!!  Clever, very clever.   And, I did see Brad and Jen on an animal show with bears.  Forget what it was called and why they were there.

I have to agree with you both.  Disagreements are being taken as  personal attacks.

It is hard to learn anything in the CM threads.

I agree, a closed mind does not let the knowledge to flow normally [;)]

I don't think that's true, I think if you ask questions you get answers, but if you do it in a snide way or walk in bashing him you get a certain reaction. And even then there's a little insight, it's just ignored or missed because of people's emotions over one persons way of working with dogs.
