    are all pitbulls aggressive?

    Hi everyone,
Well I just got a new puppy. His name is Jeter and he is 7 weeks old.  He is a Pitbull  and not a mixed breed.  Right now Jeter is the sweetest pup ever.  I love him, but my only concern is that he might grow up to be aggressive.  Everyone's always saying that all pitbulls are dangerous/aggressive.  Is this true?  or does it depend on how you raise them, i mean I'm really nice and sweet to my pup.

    7 weeks old.
Is very young to be away from it's mommy. They need to learn lots more things until the age of 9weeks.
But to answer your question, no they are not Human aggressive  but can be dog aggressive.
    Please post pics of Jetter.
    Love puppy breath pictures.lol
Also read up on the breed to familiarize yourself about them and their needs.

It definately depends on how you raise them, just like any other breed of dog. If you teach your dog to be agressive he will be aggressive. Please read up on this breed as they require a strong and experienced owner. I dont mean strong as in macho tough I mean an owner who is willing to train and enforce that training.

Enroll in a puppy class asap, not because you have a dangerous dog, but because you should take the opportunity to show the world that Pit ulls are the sweetest dogs in the world. Good luck with him

Isn't it nice how certain breeds of dog are consider "bad".  A dog is what you make of it!  With good training a dog regardless of breed can be very good....just as with poor training it can be bad.  I have seen good and bad dogs in many different breeds.  I suggest getting your pup in puppy class and dog obedience when he is age appopriate.

congrats on your puppy and welcome to the forum!

As said above, the way your pup will turn out will all depend on you! Love, care, socialization and training are all vital parts of dog ownership but most importantly of a APBT's ownership.
I have several, they get along and are very friendly. They know I am boss and what I will accept and what I won't tolerate. They are very smart and energetic, the mind needs to be stimulated more then the body but keeping them busy with play and training will do both.

Enroll in a puppy kindergarten, follow up with basic obedience and take your dog every where you can and introduce to everyone in a friendly manner, discourage animal aggressision and you will have one awsome pet

Actually, I would NOT wait.  More dogs end up dead due to behavior problems than ever die from diseases.  Just remember to keep your pup from walking in areas where unvaccinated dogs have access, like the public sidewalk, the park, etc.

We take dogs at 8 weeks & are especially glad when we see Pit owners bring their pups to puppy kindergarten early.  This is a wonderful breed, but you do have a responsiblility to socialize him well, and to understand that he may not always be friendly to other dogs.  If this is a pet, I would continue to go to classes, and to socialize him to people and other dogs until he is an adult.  Also, I would neuter him at 6 months and no later, to help avoid dog to dog aggression.  Pits are normally very people oriented, but if you have children in your home, you will want to make sure that the puppy respects them as humans, and doesn't think of them as equals.  Your instructor at puppy class can help you do the things you need to make that happen.

    Hey everyone,
Thanks for replying to my question.  I did some research on pitbull terriers todays and found the info i needed.  My pup is to young to get his shots, but as soon as he gets them he's going to kindergarden.  By the way here are some of Jeter's pics.  I love the one with the towel...lol...he had just took a bath and wasn't too happy about it, shortly after that he took a longt nap on my lap.

Awwwwwwwww I so love the towel picture of Jetter.

What a cute little guy. I am so pleased you took the time to do some reading up on Pit Bulls. They are phenominal breed. I would not trade my pit's for NOTHING in this world.

Once you understand their mentality and personality, you have a terrific loyal dog who would do anything to please you.

I can smell the puppy's breath from here. Thanks for posting a picture of him. He is very very handsome.

    Thank you.
I'm taking him for his shots next saturday, I'm so excited...lol... i know he's not.
Does anyone know where i can buy a cheap Bag to carry him in since i'm not supposed to walk him until his shots.  All dog purses i've seen so far are really pricey!
