At My Wits End With Crating

Next time she runs, you may want to try to leash her and walk her back, as opposed to carrying her. ;)

I agree. My hubby suggested the same thing last night after I got her in the crate. We already leash her to go potty, so when we take her out right before bed we will just keep her on the leash and bring her right to the crate.

    Thanks!

I know everyone will tell you to crate, but think about it, crating just recently came the "thing".  In the 1950,70,80's and earlier you never heard of such a thing.

Dogs were also treated like dogs, and not kids.Lots of things have changed since the 50's, 70', & 80's.  The standards of the past were crank & yank training, rub there nose in there feces, hit the dog with a newspaper, euthanize the dog if it was going to be any sort of major expense, dog lives in the back yard in a dog house, dogs roaming neighborhoods freely, dogs sent "to the farm" when they were to much to deal with, etc.

Crating is not only "the thing", but it is the RIGHT thing.  Keeping working on it...you will get it.

Good idea. You might want to want to put a command with it, such as "Kennel" or "Crate" or whatever you choose, by the way. After a few days on leash, once she's walking in without offering resistance, start unhooking the leash further and further back and saying your crate command as you unhook her - and walk with as she goes. Good luck!
