Noah as in "No" ah! Dog would be confused as to his name or the verbal command 'NO'. It would be like naming your dog 'sit'. LOL

My sister named her son Noah. And the boy, at 21 months, is TROUBLE. But at around 14-16 months, whenever someone would say his name, he would cover his eyes and say "awwww!" like someone just yelled at him. So "no" had to turn into "uh uh". But now "no" means nothing to him. It's like when someone calls me Chels, I guess. Noah's a cute name, but baaad idea.. [:D]

Or like naming a car Nova and then trying to sell it in a Spanish-speaking country.  "No va" = "No go"

ETA:  The story of the Chevy Nova not selling well in Spanish-speaking countries is actually not true where a dog having trouble with the name Noah is quite possible.

Assuming that Spanish speakers would naturally see the world "nova" as equivalent to the phrase "no va" and think "Hey, this car doesn't go" is akin to assuming that English speakers would spurn a dinette set sold under the name Notable because nobody wants a dinette set that doesn't include a table.  ...  Just as an English speaker would describe a broken-down car by saying that it "doesn't run" rather than it "doesn't go," so a Spanish speaker would refer to a malfunctioning automobile by saying "no marcha" or "no funciona" or "no camina" rather than "no va."

    submissive domination

My mother had a shy, wall-flower type personality.  However, she had my very domineering father wrapped around her little finger.

    Is that "submissive domination"?

I don't know, but if you google the phrase it looks like your dad had lotsa fun while mom was submissively dominating him.  (No offense intended to your probably very respectable parents LOL)
