How do I correct bad behavior?

I'm not sure how much of her listening so well is because of the treats she is getting, but I've been trying to praise with both treats and hugs/pets.

Who cares how much she does is because of treats (*rewards*)?  You go to work every day for a paycheck, right?  The key is really in the reward, but it doesn't always need to be food, and, in fact, can be anything the dog wants.  Example: Wanna go out? "Sit"  Dog sits, so gets to go out (going out is the reward - no food necessary).  When you do use food, once she is doing as you ask fairly reliably, switch to using the food only occasionally, and use praise, toys, or other stuff (like getting to go out, or for a ride) in between times.

I guess I wasn't really thinking about the "action" being the reward.  I have been giving out extra treats, but I've also been using the hugs/pets.  I don't want her to think that she will get a treat "every" time I ask her to do something and she complies!  Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Sorry - I obviously didn't know what I was doing when I tried to use the quote!
