    Feeding Schedules

Hey there, just curious on what is your guys feeding schedules for your dogs. And what are you feeding them!? I wanted to get some new ideas and possibly add them to Rugers diet.

This is Rugers schedule and what I feed him.

I feed him @ 12pm everyday, basically lunch for us, and this is his schedule.

Monday/Wensday/Friday - Kibble mix(Kirkland Lamb/Rice /w Innova EVO Red Meat) /w some wet food (Kirkland Chicken/Rice or California Natural Chicken/Rice I rotate it) and I also mix a little bit of beef broth in it.

    Tuesday/Thusday/Saturday - Kibble Mix /w Homemade Meatballs

    Sunday - Kibble

Homemade Meatballs are 3lbs Ground Beef, 8egg yolks /w shell, 1 1/2 cups Wheat Germ, 1cup oats, 1 cup Molosses, 1 cup of Fish or Olive Oil, 1 1/2 cup Peanut Butter, 1 1/2 cups cottage cheese, Half a container of Heavy Whipped Cream, Can of Sweet Potato.

I make them into ping pong size or Golf size balls and feed him 4 a day. Great way to gain weight if your dog is underweight or maintain weight if they are very active. Ruger had an operation and lost a lot of weight so I put him on this and he's been doing great, His coat is beatiful and fluffy and shiny, He has filled up. And doesnt shed as much anymore.

Let me know what you guys have your dogs in! I want to know! =D

Whew, that's too much for me. My dogs get fed at 7am-ish and again at 5pm - ish. They all get Evo kibble. No toppings or supplements right now.

since i am working from home again, their schedule is all over the place. i feed twice a day, and try to space it about 12 hours apart, but when exactly that is, can shift A LOT according to my work schedule...

i feed them pro plan salmon and rice. best thing i can get consistently over here. i am hoping to one day do homecooked, but right now my schedules are totally unreliable and my knowledge is limited. when life falls into order a bit more, possibly a few years down the line, i will try myself at homecooked...

    Kenya - 5yo GSD 58lbs - California Natural Lamb and Rice kibble - 1.5 cups at 5:30pm, 1 cup at 7:30ish

    Coke - 2yo mutt 60lbs - same as above

Nikon - 15wk GSD 35lbs? - California Natural Lamb and Rice kibble - handful at 8am (to keep him busy while I leave and so he doesn't have an empty belly while I'm at work), 1.5 cups at 5:30pm, 1 cup at 7:30ish, another handful (or .5 cup) later on used a training rewards

About 11 o'clock we feed breakfast, which is a carb-based meal plus whatever boneless meats are a part of each dog's diet.  They get their supplements with this meal also.

In mid afternoon on days when we do a lot of work, they get a snack - maybe a little stew or a meatball or a rec bone.

Very late at night, about 10 or 11 pm, they get their raw meaty bones.

This schedule, except for the snack, is pretty much for convenience's sake.

Kaiser's food is always out -- if he cleans it up (rarely) he generally has to wait until dinner to get it filled again.

Breakfast is at 6 a.m. during the week and usually by 7:30 on the weekends (since Kaiser thinks it's not possible to sleep later than that).

Dinner is anywhere from 5:30 to 6:30 -- Luke thinks he will DIE if not fed by 6:00 and generally starts giving me the look as early as 5:00.

I rotate among the grain-free foods -- currently they're on Taste of the Wild (buffalo/venison mix).

Now I see that a lot of you are feeding your dogs multiple times a day, of course spread out. I only feed my boy once a day but it is a high caloric meal though. Do you guys think I should feed him twice a day? Or leave it as it is

Breakfast is served here at around 6:15 am.  Dinner is served around 7:30 pm.

Shooter gets 1.5oz of whatever the food of the week is, at each feding.

Schatzi gets 2.5oz of the "food of the week" at each feeding.

Brinxx gets 8oz of the "food of the week" at each feeding.

They eat a prey model diet, so they have a pretty big variety of foods.  This week, the "Food of the week" is rabbit.  Each dog has a complete rabbit that has been cut into meal sized pieces for them.  They will eat one food until it is gone, then we rotate to a new food.

Chyna is eating Wellness Super Mix 5.  She gets 3/4 cup twice a day, along with various toppers.

Bevo is eating four times a day for now.  He eats at 6:15am, noon, 6:30pm, & 10:30pm.  He eats 3 1/2 cup of Fromm Surf & Turf at each feeding, along with a half of a can of Wellness 95% meats on his food.  He also gets other toppers added to his food as well.

Cleo eats twice a day because she is a Giant breed dog and they should not be fed one big meal. She eats breakfast and an evening meal...and picks at both thruout the day.

Nonnie is expecting so she also has two smaller meals per day since her tummy is squished by pups...LOL. That will continue once they come since her need for food will go up when she's nursng.

the rest get fed once per day at the evening or whenever.

they eat kibble....Cleo and Nonnie get some extras in there as far as eggs, bannanas or yogurt.

Some dogs do fine on once a day feedings. If your dog is one of those then I don't see a reason to change.

Dakota was a once a day dog until Neiko came along. then I switched her to twice a day so she would be fed the same time as him to eliminate competition. Before Neiko, she usually wasn't interested in eating in the a.m.

Sam is on IAMS ProActive Health Large Breed. He is allowed to free-feed all day, and then he gets 2 cups(or so) at night, with toppers - normally leftovers, sometimes canned.

Sadly - I'm not buying Sam's kibble right now. Once I get a job/move out I will, and then he'll probably be on EVO, Wellness, Blue, or some other 'top' brand.

I'm not on an exact schedule, so here's an approximate one:

*9:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m Gingerbread (3 yr. old Shih Tzu) gets 1/3 cup Fromm Duck & Sweet Potato. Peanut (4 1/2 month old Chihuahua) gets a bowl of Fromm Surf & Turf (he is free fed, so he eats throughout the day).

*Potty times throughout the day, they each get a Ginger Ridge small mint dog biscuit

*11:00 p.m.- 1:00 a.m. Gingerbread gets same as morning meal. Peanut's bowl is refilled if he has eaten all his food. He's a very active and very lean puppy, so I don't limit his intake.

*Other random times I'll give them each a baby carrot and/or some celery or banana or apple.

Cheyanne and Joker get 1 cup of TOTW at 10 am and at 4 pm. Joker also gets a chicken quarter or pork neck around 6-7pm. Joker gets a spoonful of cottage cheese or yogurt with his breakfast. No egg because it dont agree with him.

Lillie and Fynn get 2 cups of TOTW with one egg and a spoonful of cottage cheese or yogurt at 10 am and then just 2 cups of TOTW at 4 pm. They also get a chicken quarter or pork neck around 6-7 pm.

Kujo gets 1/2 a cup of kibble in her bowl in the morning and eats on that throughout the day. That is all she gets. Plus whatever Samantha sneaks her throughout the day.

I walk about Apollo at about 7am for an hour. We come home and he's fed 3 cups of Canidae dry ALS regular formula, with a scoop of Knox Nutra Joint and some warm water. Then we go to work. I wait until 5pm and feed him 2 cups of Canidae and some sort of a topper (egg, sardine, veggie, etc). And then we go for another hour walk.

I feed my dogs around 6:30 in the morning and around 7:00 in the evening.  This can vary depending on the time when we exercise or play hard but generally around 12 hours apart.  I recently switch two of mine to Evo and my 9 year old JRT is on Innova Senior.

When I was into training retrievers we fed once a day in the evenings and the dogs were training every day pretty hard.  I now feed twice a day because I hate the thought of them going so long between meals although I use treats for training every day. I think that may make me feel better but I don't think the dogs suffer with once a day feeding.
