    AKC Competitors out there??

I just wanted to know if anybody on the forum besides me competes in obedience.....like AKC stuff.

I have learned so much from our mentor. She has an Obedience Trial Champion (OTCh.) Border Collie. They have won numerous of times and have picked up a few High In Trials! I shouldn't say a few MANY High in Trials!!

Sorry agility here.  Ob is just not our cup of tea.

I'm currently competing in Rally with Malcolm and we'll move on to obedience when he matures some. With my next dog, we're headed for UKC, though, and the rules there look fun.

We also dabble in breed and train for agility but my handling sucks so bad we haevn't tried it 'for real' yet.

we participate in AKC obedience (I hesitate to use the word compete) we have our CD ( we were top rated novice A manchester of 2) we hav our RE and got 2 RAE legs this weekend We also do agility and have our NA and NAJ and we are working on open obedience and agility.  We are having a lot of fun but we will never be HIT or HC material goal is UD an MX an MXJ but I started with a 5 year old dog so who knows if we will run out of time or not.
I have to admit I and my dog like NADAC agility better but it's all fun.

I do, I do. All but my youngest (one year old) dogs have at least earned a CD. I do other stuff like tracking and herding and occasionally agility, but I like to establish a bond and build a foundation for the other sports with at least some basic formal obedience first. Plus, unlike tracking and herding and agility, you can practice it anytime, anywhere. I love it.

Cool, I've been told that by our mentor. You need a good solid obedience training with your dog before agility comes. You can practice, but you need good solid obedience. And that is very true. Maddie has a tendancy to get the zoomies. And it kills me...well not literally...but I hate it when she gets them.

Don't worry about the zoomies.  It just means she's enthusiastic!

I have to admit, I did agility before I started doing lots of OB training.  I haven't competed in OB, but have done conformation, agility, rally, coursing, and therapy work with my basenjis.  Except Zpuppy, who is doing agility and conformation training.  She also knows sit and down, but that's about all the OB training she's had.

    We do obedience & rally.

Bevo, the Dobe, has his UD & is 2 legs away from his UDX.  We just started rally, & he's already gotten his RN.

Shooter, the Doxie, has his CD & should be able to easily work his way up to his UD if his owner would get off her butt & get him entered in more trials.  I would like to try Shooter in agility, but it probably won't be until spring that we start that.

Dess has his CH, RN, CD, PT and legs toward HSAs

Nora has 10 points and will participate in the same venues and maybe agilitly since she is good at it (i am not)

Sorry, we do therapy dog, agility, disc & tracking, mostly for fun - three of my dogs are mixes.  Not much into heeling.  I find it boring (sorry).
I would also love to try herding again if I could find a good trainer close by.  With a job and a business, not too much time on my hands.

both of my corgis competed in obedience, retired with a CD and a CDX, with some minor injuries that prevented further advancement. my oldest was trained thru utility.

i am toying with the idea of putting my older mal into ASCA obedience.

Oh yeah baby, now you're talking!

I'm an AKC (and ASCA, and UKC) obedience junkie... I love a pretty front, a snappy finish, thrill to retrieve over high, and hold my breath every time a dog goes out straight, jumps clean and does something totally wrong, but funny!

I'm not anybody's picture of perfection! I train and trial to be the best that my pal and I can be, we luck into a few placement ribbons here and there, and all is wonderful in my world.

About to try the Utility A ring with the best dog in my neighborhood. :)

    My dogs:

UCDX Sasha CDX RA TT - Therapy Dog, retired 13 yr. old FCR

Bobby CDX RE - Sheltie Rescue # 997
