Is human food better quality for your dog?

Uhm...yes! I think you're in the wrong group of people if you're looking for "No way! I would never feed my dog people food!" [8D]

Yep, I make good steak, salmon and tuna steaks for Trudy with other good foods. I eat the very same food. Yum.

I'm using something different, but the link posted by Kelly looks good and you should be able to pick it up in a human health food store or order it online:

A better probiotic choice might be the human supplement [linkhttp://store.thecatalog.com/2925.html]NOW Acidophilus 4 x 6 Powder[/link] which contains
    Lactobacillus acidophilus 2 Billion
    Bifidobacterium lactis (bifidum) 1.2 Billion
    Bifidobacterium longum 200 Million
    Lactobacillus paracaseil sub-sp 200 Million
    Streptococcus thermophilus 200 Million
    Lactobacillus bulgaricus 200 Millio
    n

And the NOW product is wheat, yeast, milk, soy, egg, and additive free.

Actually, this is probably one of the most educated bunches of dog owners you'll ever meet.  However, there are forum rules about posting sites for personal gain and all must follow those.

I'm currently using something different too, but this comes highly recommended and I will be getting it next time.

I will weigh out all options on here.  I want to hear what others use and their results and experiences.

Glenda, do you use any supplements and do you have any opinions on this?  If you don't want to reply here you can PM me.
    Thanks!

    Thanks to all so far!

Actually I don't use anything.  Now that they get fish on a real regular basis in the homecooked I don't even use fish oil.  We don't have any issues with stomach upsets, and I've had many folks say that gsds are KNOWN for having sensitive tummies...but apparently no one told my dogs that......yes, some foods cause a larger stool, but to me that says that they are not utilizing that particular food as well and I go back to the tried and true brands that I know work for my dogs.  Basically I don't like the idea that every food works for every dog even if you have to supplement to MAKE it work.  Any time we need a probiotic, such as when someone is on antibiotics, the vets have always told me just to get a good quality yogart for them.

And, since when am I shy about sharing my experience?

I don't give any supplements either. I'm happy with the probiotics and supplements that are added in EP Holistic after the cooking process. I feel like things should be in the proper balance and I don't feel comfortable tinkering with adding things.

The only reason I use probiotics, and I only give them to Sassy, is because she's on Ketaconzale 5 days a week.  It's an enhancement to the Atopica, and since it's an antibiotic and she has so many health/allergy problems, I just figure it can't hurt.  Because of her allergy problems, I'm leary about yogurt for her, heck I'm leary of everything for her, so I just prefer the supplements.  The Omega 3/6 supplements are just a good idea in general, and that goes for humans too.  If you feed or eat a lot of foods rich in those omega fats, then you probably don't need to supplement.
