We would appreciate your removing your link dice.

Good Day. I am  new here and would like to thank the person above for all the information regarding Iodine content in dog food.  I'm about to switch my kennel (GSDs) to Orijen tomorrow and as all good doggie people do, I have been researching, researching before the switch.  When I saw the mention of Iodine at 7+,  I was a little rattled because I couldn't find this number on any Orijen Pet Food. I'm looking to the Orijen Adult at 5%.  I have no issues with that %.  I've been involved in all areas of the dog world for 32 yrs. now and tried as many as 31 foods in that time.  Most high end.  I have been feeding the Eagle Pack Holistic Chicken which has been working OK but then I've read that they have sold out to a holding company.  My dogs have started to itch with NO apparent cause and some flakiness and the more I read the more I am finding that others are having the same problem.  Too much rice/questionable ingredients etc.  Time for a change to a grainless food and after days of research I'm of the opinion that on paper, Orijen looks the best.

I enjoyed reading all your posts.

    That is 100% not true.

No offense, but you sound like an Orijen rep.

    Good Day.

Absolutely NOT a dog food rep.  As for my comment about the sale to a holding company, it was something I read on THIS  forum and that is why I mentioned it.  I never take one person's word for anything.  As  I said, I research.  I've spoken to John at Eagle and to 3 sales reps at the various stores I frequent to see if they had heard anything about an Eagle sale.  As I mentioned, I have fed approximately 31 foods in 32 yrs. and this in itself should tell you that I don't put all my eggs in any basket when it comes to pet food companies and their products.  I'm constantly searching to learn more and improve my dog's quality of life and longevity.

    Yes, I am offended.

Horrible way to treat new comers. "No offence" **Edited, referencing previously edited comment**  Make of THAT what you want.  **Edited: Rude Behavior**  Maybe you're the Eagle Rep. haha

I'm off this forum anyway.  Too bad, seemed like there was some good information here. Don't bother to post anything more to me.  I have neither the time nor the incling for the likes of you and won't be bothered **Edited, Rude behavior**   Although I do suspect that you are the kind who likes to get the last word so go for it.  I don't give a damn. Too bad your mouth will turn away people who like to learn.

Where's the moderator??  **Edited: Referencing previously edited comment**

If you go to:   http://www.spcap.com/uploads/file/SPC-Company-Brochure.pdf  you will read some interesting info.  This is the web site for SPC - Private Equity Capital an investment company and it states:

EAGLE PACK PET FOODS INC.  The leading producer of super premium pet food, sold in the
independent, specialty pet store channel under the Eagle Pack,
Holistic Select, and Holistix brand names. Sold to an affiliate of
    Berwind Corporation in October 2007.

    Hi Edie:

Oh Lord does the fire in my bellie really show?  I call that acid reflux and take pills for it. haha  I popped back in to see if the post by Terra was sent regarding Eagle being sold in November of 2007. (She's a friend)  Guess that ends that.  I do apologize for being a little more hostile than normal.  My beautiful angel "Morgan" had fractured his vertebrae back on July 5/07 and after weeks of towel walking him and exercising his leg and massages and bladder problems we finally got it all under control.  Boxing Day he bled outrageously from his butt.  Got that stopped, called the vet and started him on Pred. He was also a Perianal Fistula dog and they can bleed but not like this.  New Years Eve Day he bleeds out twice again.  Just pouring.  Get that stopped again.  Now he is pot bellied looking like a pregnant female and weak.  Call vet who thinks he has either Ulcer or Tumour. Keep him comfortable. I think the vet knew angel Morgan was near the end. Morgan dies very early New Years Day from Hemangiosarcoma.  Cancer of the blood vessels basically.  A total shock to us he had Cancer. He was a great dog and my best friend.  I've been heart broken over this and sensitive I guess to many things I'd normally just blow off. Was so unfair after all he went through to learn to walk again.  So, I do apologize to all for my over-reaction but I was still annoyed at the insinuation I am a rep of any company.  Anyway, I'm somewhat back on track and thank you Edie for the NICE invite back.

This seems like a good list with lots of info and from reading the posts, some nice people.  What kind of furkids do you have Edie???

I'm almost totally out of the Eagle now and tomorrow I'll be on the Orijen totally. Bringing it in real fast because of this darn chewing/scratching.

Strange as it sounds, I've only seen them chew once since Saturday night when I started this food. Weird I know. Talked a couple of my U.S. buyers into trying it.  They were looking for a good grainless food and we hashed over 3 of them until deciding to try the Orijen.

Hopefully it works. Also hope we can get rid of the original "Orijen rep" subject line.

The place where I get my dog and cat food (currently feeding innova) just got a new brand called Orijen. I'd never heard of it before. Any reviews? It seems like good stuff, what with the no grains and all.

Marketing gimmick.  They replaced the fiber from grain with the fiber from plant (flowering).  Loaded up as well with fruits and veggies despite talking jumping on the carnivore bandwagon.  Bon Appetite.

Thanks for telling me about the Inbox Edie.

Perhaps I should calmly and properly introduce myself to this forum.  I am a breeder, trainer, exhibitor of German Shepherds.  I am a canine graphic artist who specializes in Memorials.  I am a published doggie poet and author of articles on nutrition and canine parasites although not currently writing. I'm currently studying canine behaviour.  I have been involved with GSDs for 32 yrs. They are my love and my life.  I belong to only two other forums.  The Perianal Fistula List (moderator) and the Degenerative Myelopathy List.  I am not affiliated with any food company now, nor have I ever been.  I do not post on any lists/forums other than the PF and DM and now here. If anyone belives I have, I would challenge them to provide proof.  I belong to the CKC and I call Sutton, Ontario my home where we have resided for 18 yrs.  I have an excellent reputation as a breeder and  for my honesty and for being upfront on whatever I'm asked.  I'm a very direct person and if anyone has any questions about me, feel free to ask.  I don't participate in gossip or bad mouthing people or talking/emailing behind peoples backs.  Don't have the time for that.  I love to learn anything that will help my furkids and I will share anything I learn.  I like to make new friends in cyber space and I enjoy chatting about other peoples dogs as well as my own.  There is much to appreciate in all breeds.  I find canine behaviour fascinating and I love to research anything doggie related.  I've had many, many GSDs live over 13 & 14 yrs. of age and for my breed this is a good record.

When it comes to dog food, I've done home-cooking and mostly kibble.  I'm not a fan of the raw diets but believe each to their own and have enjoyed many a stimulating conversation with those that choose this.  We all try to do what we think best.  I remember back years ago feeding what I thought was decent food and I chuckle at that now.  31 different foods in 32 yrs.  Always searching for something that would suit my ten dogs.  Not an easy thing to do.  I continue to search and hopefully my current choice is a good one.  Time will tell.

There we go.  That's a condensed version of me.

Briar....who was by the way my Cdn. Champion, Obedience Dog, Pet Therapy Dog and frequent visitor to the kiddies classes in school.
