Chi.Soup/Dog Lovers Soul better than Pro Plan?

its not that I have an option of accepting it or not - NOTHING has reduced his frequency. He doesn't poop a lot volume wise just often - as long as he's healthy its not something I am going to fret about

Lori, I feel the same way as Karen... I haven't had any success keeping down the number of poops daily very well on ANY food.

For the most part Timberwolf gives us slightly smaller volume, but doesn't reduce the number of daily poops. I talk with a lot of greyhound owners in our greyhound walking club and all say the same about their greys. AND you see all ends of the feeding spectrum there. For me if the pups are doing well on it and the stool is firmer, then the rest is fine in my book.

Shelly, do you add prozyme to their food??
I got Prozyme and it has reduced the sizes of Ella's poop and also how many times a day she goes.

He too has food allergies (chicken, eggs, and turkey), the first time I gave him Benadryl was last August (he was a year old) when I gave him the end of my scrambled eggs and he broke out in hives within minutes.  The vet told me to give him 1mg/lb (would have meant 4 tablets) but being a little a little anti-meds I gave him one and he slept for about 10 hrs.  Making a long story short we had had some problems with him all along behavior wise, terrible ear infections, foot chewing and then in July he was so lethargic and didn't want to eat, etc. etc. Turns out he had these food allergies and was terrible uncomfortable.  Fixed the food issues and he still had itching and breathing problems.  Tried the Benadryl and it works for him still on a relatively low dose.  Unfortunately he seems to have many environmental allergies so I keep trying to go Benadryl free and we have days sometimes a week or two without it and he's fine, but the general rule is to throw some one in with his kibble and add some via peanut butter as necessary.  I truly hate medicating all the time but he is obviously more comfortable, he now thinks benadryl is a treat - I say you want some PB he goes to the draw where I keep it and once I get a blob on my finger and stick the benadryl in it he opens his mouth for me.
On light days he gets 2-3 tablets, the most I've given him is 6 tablets (RARE)  I figure as young as he is I don't want it to be ineffective over the long run.

Please be aware that I am not an expert and others will say you need to give the 1-2mg/lb he doesn't need that so I don't give tham much
We are currently covered in pine pollen, I wipe him off each time he comes back in and the paper towel is green - YUCK

Yeah, her poops are smaller, firmer, and lighter in color.
I take from it that she's absorbing the food better.

and I'm going to assume that you're adding a 1/4 tsp. per cup of food fed?
Wait. How much do you feed them at a time?

Pysiologically it shouldn't make a difference if you guy is normal, it would however make a difference if he's deficient in an enzyme. Mordana doesn't recommend using these if your dog is normal either, I was just reading a thread on ODO about it a few weeks ago.

my dog has reacted poorly to EVERY kibble we've put her on.
The only food she ate that didn't do this to her is raw.
But raw had it's problems for her in other areas.

I feed 1 cup per feeding 3x a day... and yes I use a heaping 1/4 teaspoon ....what kibble is ella on right now?

    Ocean Blue.

    Ocean Blue.

hmmm.. I was thinking maybe I could contribute your success to a different company, but perhaps it is the fact that Ella is also on grain free... my guys have never done well on TO grainfree formulas (they don't have firm poop). The only ones they are OK on is Bison and now the Lamb and Apples and I have tried every formulas EXCEPT black forest...  that is so weird!

I MAY be trying Nature's Logic. MAAAAYBE. If she does well on the samples they're going to send me.

But, even though I threw a HUGE fit about T.O's manufacturing deal, I cannot get over how good she looks and well she does on Ocean Blue. Also, Nature's Logic has the SAME policy about manufacturing, so I'd have to take that into consideration as well.

Well, with Ella's allergic reaction to wheat, I am hesitant to put her on ANYTHING with grains in it. I KNOW...just because she had a bad reaction to wheat, doesn't mean she'll react bad to ALL grains. But it's hard for me to be OK with grains because of that. Also, her stools aren't loose on Ocean Blue, just volumous (spelling?), they're formed, but softer. But not with the Prozyme.

I liked Chicken Soup, but one of my dogs started having some skin issues after I started feeding it, so I eventually changed to NB, and there's been so problems since.

As far as pooping goes, my three go twice a day like clockwork...early in the morning and right after they eat. If I took them to the bathroom just before they ate, no one would poo, but as soon as they go out after they take their last bite, everyone has to poo. Obviously, the food's not flying through them, so it's just a habit they've picked up. If anything, they're predictable.[:D]

Same here.... I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have to factor in how truly different the ingredients in TWO's foods are. I had been planning on trying Wild and Natural and I went ahead and bought a bag. Gingerbread has eaten it a few times and all is well in the digestive department. So far I've tried 4 different formulas of theirs and everyone agrees with him.

I'm considering even trying the bison and elk even though I don't want to put her on any grained food. It doesn't have barley in it which is the other grain I don't want to feed.
