I'm considering even trying the bison and elk even though I don't want to put her on any grained food. It doesn't have barley in it which is the other grain I don't want to feed.

Barley is one of the grains that I won't feed. I've had really good results with both Wilderness Elk and Dakota Bison.

Next time around, I might pick up a 4 lb. bag of the bison and try Ella on it.
That is if I don't have my Nature's Logic duck and salmon samples or if Ella doesn't do well on it.

Nature's Logic is another great food. Unfortunately Gingerbread is allergic to brewer's yeast, so it caused a major allergic reaction for him. Such a shame because I love the fact that all the vitamins in the food come from actual food sources. I hope it works for Ella! [:)]

TO's bison and elk formulas contain millet and oats as grain sources---millet is a gluten free grain, so it does not cause the same problems as does wheat and barley.

Oats are generally considered a "safe" grain as it does not provoke the same response in the GIT as do most gluten grains. It does contain gluten just not in the high amounts as wheat, barley, or rye.

Chewbecca, if you suspect Ella is having trouble with gluten grains, she may not have problems with TO's bison or elk formulas.

I do, too. I mean, I might not use it ALL the time, but it would be nice to put it into a food rotation.

Yeah, I think I shall try it. If she does well on it, I'll buy a 33 lb. bag and then if she continues to do well on it, then I can add it into her rotation. I'm going to start doing a kibble rotation for Ella, yes. And I may even add in more canned food to get her some different protein sources.
