Three years ago I made all their food. I stopped when my kitchen was torn apart in a huge remodel project to make our 100 year old house handicap accessible. I found that incorporating the kibble gave me some flexibility, especially when kibbles came out that were compatible with Ben's allergies.
I'm going back to all home cooked. Probably raw supplemented with local grown cereals, though it depends on the source of the food. I used a modified Volhard approach before and I'll start there again.
I've found two suppliers of bulk meats already, in addition to farm direct, of course. I'll go back to the mill I used before to source whole grain meals. I've told mom to start saving kitchen scraps again. I'm still comparing prices. I just opened a bag of Bil-Jac so I've got about two weeks to get geared up.
Here's a GREAT site if you want to supplement your pets with locally grown meats
http://www.eatwild.com/ - and of course farmers markets are terrific for local fresh produce. And it's a great way to bring safe foods to your human family's table, too!
