Recalled Cuts & Gravy Ingredients

Glenda I'm sorry, but I agree 100% with Edie and Gizmo. It's not a personal attack, just an observation on my part. Several members have joined recently and used this as an opportunity to advance their own agendas, whatever they may be, and those people have been slammed for using this as a business opportunity. John is a helpful and valuable person and member of this forum, but his helpfulness in e-mail is separate from his membership here. He has used the forum in the past to promote his product and Jaime has had to remove posts. It may be good business, but it doesn't look good at all to me that he would use *this* to campaign his product.

I thought long and hard before posting this, and don't think it breaks any rules, so go easy on me, please? [:)]

I have no problem at all with folks having and sharing an opinion.  Go for it.  But, when we get a little snarky and personal, then I have a problem.  Stuff like attacking someones grammer is personal.

If you think that John is "using" this situation to further his companies agenda, then say so.  Just say so without getting personal and unpleasant.  To me the difference between John and some of the newbies who registered SOLEY to push a product, etc, is that John has been her for a long time and isn't a newbie.  If he were, I'd have edited him out.....and John's post also is not for PERSONAL gain.....yep, it benefits his COMPANY and maybe long term himself in the wallet, but I don't know that.

Again, I do think the question has merit.

How does the average Joe, or even those of us on this forum, KNOW that the food we are feeding is safe.

But, anyway, I did make a small change in the OP.

apart from any "spamming" ideas or accusations, I honestly think it's helpful that someone like John, who works for a dog food company, be available here to answer questions some may have about his company's products. I like the fact that there is a respresentative of Timberwolf and a rep from Wellness here.

I don't know that I would take his post as trying to sell his product, as much as I think he just wanted to make clear that his company was free from this recall. While he may be a poster here, he still has to represent the company he works for.

Maybe I'm missing the spamming post...?

Rebecca, I removed Eagle Pack in the original post in two places.

I didn't see it as spamming either, but then, I "know" John.

What I haven't figured out is why he only has 3 posts?  Has he logged in under a new name?

What I haven't figured out is why he only has 3 posts? Has he logged in under a new name?

If I remember reading correctly, he had posted that he had a hard time registering and/or logging in. He kept having to make new screen names as he wasn't able to log on.

Yes, John did use to have a different username.  Why it was changed I don't know.

Even if we go raw or homecooked, how do you to know those ingredients aren't contaminated?

This is a very large concern as far as I am concerned.

As far as John posting, a long time ago when I wrote to Eagle to ask him a question,,,might have been back at the Diamond recall...he told me he had been trying to post here but couldn't. I believe he had been working with the administration to try to figure it all out. If any of you remember some of the trouble we all had at one point or another trying to straighten things out in the change over.
However,,,, I must say, I have been thru a lot of B.S. on this forum....but this  might just "take the cake!" Arguing about this garbage is about all I can take.
There are so many people here that knock Eagle Pack food and always have that they will look for reasons for this post to not be here.

Can we all calm down please?  I removed the product name from John's post so the spamming concern is eliminated.  We all KNOW what the heck product he represents, so lets not all get our knickers in a knot over what was likely a promising start to a DARNED GOOD QUESTION.

THE QUESTION and the topic of this thread is.....

HOW DOES THE AVERAGE DOG OWNER KNOW THAT WHAT THEY FEED IS SAFE?

Lets leave John out of the equation and responde to the question.

John has been her for a long time and isn't a newbie. If he were, I'd have edited him out.....

But, anyway, I did make a small change in the OP.

Thanks Glenda, I had been about to ask why the rules would apply to one person and not the other.

Maybe I'm missing the spamming post...?

Chewbecca, IMO either part of his post would have stood well on its own, but together they came off as an ad, and using this situation in that capacity is in bad taste. [sm=2cents.gif] I would have liked to have seen him post the EP was safe, without taking the opportunity to mention other brands. JMO, and obviously an unpopular one.

ETA: Sorry, started writing this before Glenda's last post. I won't mention it again.
    • Gold Top Dog
By the time I looked backed at the original post, Glenda had edited it. I honestly have forgotten the original post.
I don't want you to think that I disagree with what you're saying, especially since I can't reference the original post to know what I think.[:D]

And to answer the original question, we DO NOT know if other foods aren't effected. It's scary, but the other options are risky, as well.

ETA: oh dang, me too. Sorry!

I cant find any grammar mistakes in John's post...

I think it was edited. Either that, or I was reading crosseyed. It was very hard to read, when I posted that.
    • Gold Top Dog
I read the original post in my notifications.  I didn't see any gramatical errors.  However, even if it was rife with them, that does NOT give any of us the right to attack on a very basic personal level.

Now, lets return to the TOPIC OF THIS THREAD.
    • Gold Top Dog
I feed home cooked. If the food I eat is safe then the food my dogs eat is safe. If it isn't safe, we'll all go down together. I used to feed about one meal a week of kibble/canned when I was feeling lazy, but will be refraining from doing so in the future.

I think most of us are wondering if other companies bought from that vendor and got the poisoned stuff.
