    looking for a food without..

Beef, chicken, lamb, corn, wheat, oatmeal, barley, brewers yeast, egg, dairy and flax seed.Emmie has severe allergies and so far has had a reaction to every comercial food we have tried.Currently she is on all homecooked. The above are just the allergens we know of thru elimination diet ( fish/brown rice). She even had a reaction to the addition of a multivitamin. Her reactions are severe. She tried one meal with oatmeal two weeks ago and tore herself apart so badly she is still bleeding and covered in scabs from head to toe.She is on pred and antibiotics to prevent a staph infection.I ordered some Evolve canned pheasant to try but pricewise keeping a Dane on canned food would be insanely expensive! Not to mention the recycling! Any ideas??

IVD's simple diets (made by Royal Canin, in a dedicated factory, and sold by prescription, only) sound like they'd work. They have a rabbit, a venison, a fish, and a duck. All are with potato, as the carb.

Yeah. Stick with homecooked. [:D] Just kidding.. That is quite the list of culprits! I can't imagine....

     I'm thinking and looking.

I had considered the Timberwolf .The one thing that worries me is that it does have ALOT of ingredients that she hasnt tried and it is also very expensive.I would also have to get it shipped as they dont sell it anywhere even close to me.
I would keep homecooking for her but i do worry about making sure she gets complete nutrition.like i mentioned she had a reaction to the multivitamin as well. Also she eats 9 quarts a day of the homecooked and has still lost weight! The biggest reason i need to find something is i worry what will happen if for some reason i am either temporarily or permanently incapacitated? Most people i know have already said 'that dog should be put to sleep"

I wouldn't do Ocean Blue. It's not that I don't think it's a great food (because I do!), but.... I don't think it's a great food for dogs with severe allergies. The simpler, the better, for these guys.

I agree that Ocean Blue has too many ingredients for a sensitive dog but if you characterize it as very expensive you may be in for a shock with anything else.

One thing I noticed with the ROYAL CANIN Veterinary Diet™ canine Potato and Venison Formula Large Breed is the recommended feeding quantites.  I hope your dog likes it because she'll have to eat a lot of it!

Actually there are less than 10 kcal difference per cup between the 2 so either way it looks like 6-7 cups for her.Still alot less than 9 quarts of homecooked.I would still continue to homecook for her but it would be nice to atleast get a solid stool for once!

I wonder why you aren't getting solid stools? Are you using sufficient calcium? I've never had a problem with solid stools on homecooked, or home prepared raw diets.

For my 55lb dog the recommended feeding quantities are about twice as much for the ROYAL CANIN Veterinary Diet™ canine Potato and Venison Formula Large Breed as Ocean Blue.  RC lists kcal/cup at 289.  You're saying TWO OB is < 300 kcal/cup?

    Ocean Blue kibble is small.
