Oh, I'm so sorry about that long list of offending food.
I listed other options for venison in "terrierlovers" recent thread tht might also be an option for you. But, I only looked for venison - I have not looked to see what the other ingredients are.
I'm using calcium citrate as my calcium source for my homecooked allergy girl. I like that form the best b/c it's the most absorbable. However, some dogs can even be allergic to that form. Monica Segal has a dog that must use calcium lactate. So, sometimes you have to experiment with that.
9 quarts of food sounds like a ridiculous amount. But, I know exactly how you feel. I experienced a similiar thing when I had to use NO vitamin / minerals for a few weeks with my girl at the very start of her elimination diet. 95% of dogs are supposed to be ok going a few weeks w/o supplements. They should have stored up a supply. My girl hadn't. I think that's b/c she had difficulty asorbing the nutrients in the (high end) kibbles that I fed her. I now think some dogs just can't get what they need from kibble. So, during those few weeks her poops were gigantic. She wasn't absorbing any of her food and lost a lot of weight. I doubled her food intake - some days I still give her 3 meals a day (we are still on the diet). I slowly, slowly upped the olive oil and I think that is what helped to put some of the lost weight back on. But, I did it very slowly with the oil increase. You should be giving an oil. If you haven't - start small and slowly increase. I used olive oil b/c it's not in most foods.
Anyhow, the very day after I gave her a multi vit/mineral --- her poops got small again. She was finally absorbing the food. She now poops LESS than she did on any kibbles I gave her. I think she is actually utilizing more food. The supplement she gets has mostly citrate forms so they are easier to absorb (for most dogs). It's Thorne Canine BASIC (I use the basic formula). Would you like me to ship you some so you can try it and see how she reacts?
Of course, I realize if you switch back to kibble, then you won't need the supplement. But keep it in mind in case you do go back to homecooking again. I think if she gets the correct multi for her, then she should be able to start eating
less food since she will be absorbing more - at least from my experience. Just pm me if you decide to try this multi. I sure hope you find something soon that works for you. I can not imagine cooking 9 quarts of food. That is 2 and 1/4 GALLONS a day. I realize it's a dane, but that just is HUGE. If you can get a multi that works for her, and it reduces the volume of food fed, then that's going to make a big difference for you if you do go back to homecooking.
