Lite diets??

Was anyone addressing you Dyan ?? Why is it you and Kelly feel you need to comment on things that DO NOT CONCERN YOU ?

It DOES concern me Sharon.   Because I am a memeber of this board, and because posts that cause trouble concern everyone.  What is directed to one person said in an in insinuating way, is directed at everyone. And why do you feel that you have to defend her?   She knows why Sandra add fresh food to her kibble, we talk about it in every thread about kibble.

It means the person who it was DIRECTED to, knows what it means. That's the only person that NEEDS to know what it means.

So, your comments are "directed" at someone, even though you say they aren't??

I notice you've edited all your messages, why would you do that if there was no problem with them??

Ya know what, this isn't worth it!

You can find the ingredients to any dog food.  She chose to post the ones of Fit and Trim.  I am the only one that said my dogs eat Fit and Trim, so I knew it was directed straight as an arrow at me.  The deleted post said something like :"it will stick in someone's craw" (meaning me of course) , but she was dead wrong on that.  This works for my dogs, they get great health reports every check up, so why switch to something that may not work as well for them?    Even tho i give them the fish, meat and veggies as a treat because they love it, I am quite sure this adds to the nutrition. I also give each a doggy multi vitamin, a fish oil cap and an EsterC every day.  I eat balanced meals, but i also take a vitamin, a fish oil, an EsterC, a cranberry cap, a garlique, plus joint sups for my arthritis.

I don't care how great any dog or human food claims to be, we can not be sure. Therefore a little extra sups seems in order.

Wow, I want dinner at your place, even if I have to eat it out of a bowl off of the floor.

    Pant, pant, pant ...

Everyone knows what I feed my dog. I also feed him bits of cooked steak, pork and chicken, not because I feel the need to supplement his meal so much as I just enjoying spoiling him rotten.

My wife has a catalog that has a door mat that we're wanting to get. It says, "Here lives a dog that is spoiled rotten." Never let it be said that we aren't truthful.

My husband is a cross crountry driver, usually gone about 2 weeks at a time, sometimes up to 4.  (He will be getting in Friday and he will have been gone exactly 4 weeks)

Well, 4-5 years ago i had been fishing and caught a nice stringer of flounder.  I hvae to admit, I do not eat fish, but hubby and older son & his family do.  I dropped off several of the flounder at my sons, brought the rest home, fileted them and did them in microwave for the dogs (kept enough for 2 meals for them)  Well, hubby got in very unexpected about 9:30 that night...ws not suppose to be in until next morning.  He had known i was going fishing that day and first thing he asked was if I had luck.  I told him, I had caught some really nice flounder. His mouth started watering and he asked if I could fry some up for him (I always soak fish over night in salt water).  I told him I didn't have any.  I had given a lot to Ron and cooked the rest for the dogs.  He ended up eating a grilled cheese sandwich and canned soup.  Went around telling every one that our dogs get fresh flounder and he gets sandwiches and soup--and canned soup at that.  (I keep cans of soup for emergency and for recipes.  Make our soups.)

So, I'd have to wait in line behind the dogs?

    sniff, sniff...

    • Gold Top Dog
Well, seeing as how you also live in Texas, you could always drive to the  coast and catch your own flounder.  But beware, your furry kid would most certainly want some and from what you say, i gather he would get it.

    True on all counts.

Christine, I believe you when you say your intention was not to upset sandra. [:)]

sandra, I want you to know that when I posted the answer to Christine's question I did not mean to hurt you in any way, and I didn't know you fed that to your dog. If you've ever been to Wysong's site, he says that no dog food made, no matter how good, is 100% complete, not even the ones made by Wysong, because no processed food has all the nutrients of fresh whole food. He uses the analogy of someone taking their child to the doctor and the doctor telling them to feed the child only a certain food in a box that is 100% nutritionally complete, and nothing else. The mother is thinking to herself, "No way am I not going to give my child  give fresh fruits and vegetables." For that reason, I supplement Jessie's food with fresh pureed vegetables and cooked meat every day.[;)]

The Great Dane Lady ALSO says that on her website, maybe not in so many words.
The deleted post said something like :"it will stick in someone's craw" (meaning me of course) , but she was dead wrong on that.

Sandra, she might have deleted her post but it is still there in quotes from a couple of posters after the original statement.  I guess its nice to think that maybe she eventually understood that it was NOT a very kosher thing to write!

No Jessie's Mom, I was not hurt by any of the posts.  I was thinking how sad it is that someone could be brought up to be so insensitive to other's feelings, to apprently take pleasure in making nasty, crude remarks etc.(I am not referring to you either)  And this was after reading the nasty remark made to one of Glenda's posts (did you know Glenda is un educated and un informed?)  That did rile me.  Glenda has always had helpful non critical posts and just because she questioned a survey posted, (as I had so i guess I am uneducated and un informed as well)  this nasty remarkd was posted, using the quote from Glenda's post.  And opf course the ones to Willowchow and others that HAVE to use science diet to keep their dogs alive.  I could tell they were hurt.Amd that riled me.  And then Dyan made a post and was told to butt out.  That riled me.  Seems I get a lot more riled over things happening to other people than to me.

I am the oldest of 5 and grew up always defending the younger ones.  It seems a second nature to me to defend others and I saw some hurt people and it riled me.  I thnik Glenda is much like me--we done got to old to have our feathers ruffled much, except when it comes to seeing others hurt and insulted.

Yep, you've got that right Sandra....I'm a tough old broad with the hide of a rhino.  Takes a lot to wound me...but DO NOT pick on the little guy or I'm gonna get my back up and be a (w)itch!  And not the Good Witch![;)]

I've never used them, b/c I think they're all crap. Even Innova Lite, Natural Balance Lite, any brand. Teenie lost 10 (count them!) pounds on Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish in the morning, and raw in the evening for part of the time, then home cooked in the morning and raw in the evening (when I ditched the kibble). That would be 43% of her body weight, when she started. She was 23.5 pounds when I got her, and 7 months later, she weighs in at a well muscled 13.5 pounds. She was a lard bucket, slipped disc waiting to happen. I had a full blood panel run, and put her on a controlled portion of food, for a dog weighing 5 pounds less than she weighed. I walked her daily, and worked up to running 2 miles a day. It melted off.
