    Performatrin Ultra Dog Food

I w[size="2"]as just wondering what opinions other people have on Performatrin? I've had my pup, Foster, now 11 months old, on it since we brought him home because that's what the breeder was feeding. Is it a bad food that I should not be feeding him? He seems to be doing well on it, I was just wondering if any one else feeds their dog performatrin and how they feel about it. Thanks!

you can see the ingredient list here:

That actually looks like a pretty good food! I wish it had more than lamb and fish meal for protein, but if your pup likes it, keep him on it...definatley a high-quality food [:)]

Would the Menadione be doing anything bad to my dog? Or is it because it's artificial that makes it bad? Just wondering.

I was just saying that for my personal preference, I prefer it to have two meals BEFORE it lists grains, but I wasn't saying it was a bad food.

Read about menadione & it's possible effects at www.dogfoodproject.com

Glad to know it's a good quality food! I just wasn't 100% sure because I've never seen this food on any "good quality dog food" lists or any "avoid this brand" type lists. Thanks!

I see what you mean. I  took it to say that you thought there was not enough meat proteins in it ... at all.

I read the page, and some of that stuff sounds pretty scary! Should I be looking for another food without Menadione in it? Or is it safe to stay on it?

If it's not too much trouble, any recommendations for other foods that are similar? Hopefully they do remove it from the food.

I think the ingredients are most similar to Solid Gold Puppy (Hundchen Flocken).  I would give that a try and/or Canidae.

I've always liked it as a decent, decently priced food. I've used it as their main food for a long time. The ONLY reason I switched (from Performatrin Ultra) is that they get chicken for raw/cooked and so I thought I'd use beef in the morning (Solid Gold Millenium) for a chang. I'm not sold yet on SG though - I'm getting more poop and it's heavier.

    We'll see.

Didn't Merrick have to recall their food a while ago? I wouldn't trust a company that had problems with food contamination or whatever it was.
