The whole picture - what do you feed?

    1. What kibble do you feed
    2. What "extras" or human food do you feed and how often
    3. What supplements do you give (and why?)

It all gets so confusing - just looking to see what everyone here does!

I feed Cali Natural Lamb & Rice
With a tablespoon at each meal of either plain yogurt or cottage cheese
And an occasional egg (whites microwaved, yolk raw).

    1. What kibble do you feed
If I feed any, it's Timberwolf Organics (Wild & Natural for now, but Ocean Blue next time)

    2. What "extras" or human food do you feed and how often
I normally feed raw. Her entire meals consist of raw meats of sorts. Either boned, or ground. And I usually give her some yogurt once a day so I can give her her sea kelp. But if I'm feeding a ground meat, I won't even give her yogurt. I'll just add the kelp to that.

    3. What supplements do you give (and why?)
    Sea Kelp-for her immune system
    Fish oil-for her coat
Vitamin E-because of the fish oil and to help her skin

    at the moment:

both dogs get blackwood 3000 kibble.

occassionally they get some canned food in the evenings. so far we have tried blue buffalo (several flavors) and innova (in the green can). some nights they get some yogurt mixed with their kibble. other nights some vegetables (green beans and cucumber is all we have tried so far). some nights i put a little warm water on their kibble. some nights just the kibble.

my wife doesnt like the idea of giving them "people food" so they dont get any.

the only supplements we are using right now is grizzly salmon oil for their skin and fur. they get it on their kibble in the mornings.

we are thinking of switching their kibble, but havent decided to what. possibly canidae or one of the solid gold products.

    Kibble
My 11 3/4 year old golden  "old man"gets Purina One Senior
My 7 year old and almost 5 year old golden girls get Purina One weight managment

    Human food

Crock pot food--5 pounds of chicken  legs or thighs and calf liver, ground turkey, chicken hearts, any combo.  This time it is calf liver & chicken hearts.  This is cooked with sweet potaotes, apples, green beans, and what other veggies take my fancy--white potatoes, broccoli, yellow squash, pears. This lasts 4 or 5 meals.  On the nights they do not get this, they get fresh caught & bake fish (if I have luck) or canned salmon or mackeral with canned unsalted green beans and carrot slices.  They get mostly plain kibble in the morning, sometimes topped with a small jar of baby food sweet potatoes or squash divided between the 3 of them somtimes a little cottage cheese or yogurt , etc.  Kibble makes up 2/3 of their daily food, the cooked makes up the other 1/3

Also, i make them Frosty paws using plain yogurt, bananas, peanut butter, and honey, sometimes jars of baby food fruit, etc.  I also occasionally make the rice pudding with just rice, eggs, milk, vanilla and a little nutmeg, no sugar, salt or raisins.

    Supplements.

All three get an Ester C (immune system), all purpose vitamin, Fish Oil capsul (2 on days they do not get fish, 1 on the days they get fish) and a vitamin E on the days they get 2 fish oil capsuls.  Buck, the old man also gets a cranberry capsul each day as he had his first and only kidney infection 4 months ago.  I also give him a B Complex on M, W & F.  He gets two regular Glucosamine/MSM caps in the morning and two Osteo Bi Flex cps at night.  And his thyroid meds, 1 1/2 tabs of .8 soloxine twice a day.  KayCee, who had her knees operated on for luxating patells, the first at 16 months, the other a little over ayear later also gets 2 of the glucosamine caps and one SynoviG3 each day.

And I think that about covers it.

    1. What kibble do you feed
    2. What "extras" or human food do you feed and how often
    3. What supplements do you give (and why?)

    1. Kibble:
Nutro Natural Choice Puppy Lamb & Rice formula, 4 cups a day, plus 1/3 can of one of Nutro's Large Breed Puppy wet foods (I alternate the flavors).

    2. Extras:
    Stuff to keep her busy:
She gets a kong each day with a mix of PB and yogurt (plain, low-fat), and a carrot stick every afternoon.  She also gets one of the following a few times a week: 6-in bully stick, 1/2 of an N-Bone, a little rawhide, a Flossie, or a Kong Puppy Ziggie.  Oh, and she also gets as much beef bone as she cares to chew on.
    Other:
We've just started giving her 1 egg a week, I tried to lightly scramble it but she didn't seem to like it that way, so I guess we'll stick to raw.  For treats she gets an assortment, I try to stick to the "healthier" ones (i.e. no snausages), like Milk Bones, Bil-Jac, Charlee Bear, and gets enough as appropriate for training/reward purposes.  She only gets small tastes of table scraps when she has been quiet and not begging when we eat.

We don't do supplements, unless you count the N-Bones which have vitamins, minerals, Omega 3's, etc.

Eagle Pack Holistic Chicken and Rice

    2: Extras
Occasional scrambled egg. Pumkin or yogurt  frozen in Kong toys. Homeade Salmon Treats. I use a portion of their kibble for training treats, because they tend to gain weight easily.

    1. What kibble do you feed –

    Timberwolf Organics Dakota Bison

    2. What "extras" or human food do you feed and how often-

I feed 3 smaller meals a day and each meal they get SOME sort of mix- in. I usually freeze stuff I make for them into individual portions, so that I can easily switch their mix- ins daily or even a couple different ones a day. I NEVER add more than ¼ of a cup of any human food or other mix in

    Mix –in#%92s include:
Crockpotted beef, chicken or lamb with apples
    Canned sardines
    Canned salmon
    Canned pumpkin
Canned Timberwolf Organics Pheasant and herbs
    Canned Evangers 100% meat formulas.
    Occasionally some yogurt

    3. What supplements do you give (and why?)

JJ has arthritis so I give him a liquid Glucosamine formula and I also give Prudence a little bit too to keep her joints in good shape.  I also just started feeding Timberwolf Organics Wild Salmon Oil with a little bit of vitamin e once a day. I do this not only for their coats and skin, but also because the omegas are said to help dogs with arthritis.

    1. None

    2. Homecooked meals, twice a day. A light meal or cookie at lunch, and an egg at bedtime. Raw for Teenie, whenever I feel like it[:D] She eats a good bit of both.

    3. HAHAHAHA! That list is ridiculous. Of course, I add bonemeal to their meals, for the calcium. They both get a healthy oil (fish, flax, borage, evening primrose, coconut, whatever) on their dinner, and an ACES (Vit A, Vit C, Vit E, and Selenium). They both get MSM and Glucosamine. Emma gets Leaks No More, Milk Thistle, and cranberry.  Depending on the day, they might end up with an additional herb or two in there.

I *try* to give them most of what they need in their food. I use hearts, for taurine, tripe for enzymes, etc. It doesn't always work, and we end up supplementing.

    1.  Kibble--Bil-Jac Select
    2.  They get extras whenever I have extra time.  Usually, this would be scrambled egg or canned food on top of the kibble.  If I cook something for dinner that isn't too bad for the dogs, I'll give them a bit of that as well.
    3.  Neither gets any supplements

    Oh lord...

    1. What kibble do you feed:
    Timberwolf Organics Ocean Blue

    2. What "extras" or human food do you feed and how often
At the moment, I'm doing a test of JUST the Ocean Blue (with water added, because I don't think dry kibble is healthy at all, cause Cherokee's not much of a drinker at all) for a few days. I'm just curious how she'll do (poops, itchiness, etc.). I'll probably give that up tonight though, because I feel really bad giving her no variety, which will make it a one day test, but anyway...

I just started feeding kibble at all again about..two months ago, I guess, after around 8 months with none. She's an allergy dog and I was trying to figure out if she had food allergies, or just if I could help her by taking her off commercial food.

For a lot of that time, she was eating raw beef, either ground with eggshell powder for calcium, or with bones, plus pulverized veggies, and a few supplements. Other times I used Glenda's home cooked recipe, made up my own recipes, or got recipes elsewhere.

For the past two months, she's been eating the Ocean Blue as maybe half her diet, plus beef, chicken, veggies, eggs, canned fish, Evanger's canned meats, Neura's 95% meat canned foods, and whatever else I have around or decide to buy.

    3. What supplements do you give (and why?)
    I'm a bit of a compulsive supplementer..lol

    Right now, I give:
Salmon oil (Timberwolf Organics), for skin, coat, joints, and everything else.
    Carlson's ACES, see above.
    Zinc, for skin.
    Probiotics occasionally, for digestive health.
A B-complex a few times a week, for her skin.

The list changes all the time, so it's really just an example, and gives you an idea of how crazy I am. [:D]
