They recently finished an AAFCO feeding trial, so they can now say the food is 100% complete and balanced for all life stages; [linkhttp://www.natureslogic.com/news/showarticle.php?ArticleID=18]http://www.natureslogic.com/news/showarticle.php?ArticleID=18[/link]

I wish people wouldn't make me look like an idiot since I said that the majority of people here can have mature, diplomatic conversations [:@]

I was going to say something, but I am really getting sick of the purina discussion/bashing.

honestly, bob, some might say that the NB you feed isn't the best food on the planet.
Some might even say it's a "crappy" food.
We could ALL probably say that about eachother's dog food choices.
Gosh, so you don't agree. That's fine.
But if you can't be decent about it, then don't bother saying anything at all.
Are you trying to get Sandra to feed a different food? Is that what you want her to do? If not, are you just trying to rub it in her face that you disagree with her food choice? If so, yeah, that gets old FAST.
And if you want her to stop feeding her dogs purina, well A.) bashing her isn't going to do it B.) SHE IS NOT GOING TO STOP FEEDING PURINA. SO STOP.

At least we know her food. Purina has passed the AAFCO feeding trials, the can of NB I have that my dog won't eat, hasn't.

Things had gotten a little nasty and I was just trying to lighten up things a little.

Well well well....again, worked all weekend and missed all the fun.  I have no idea what the sudden interest in Purina is.  It sure wasn't like this on the old forum.  I had to cringe and squirm to admit I work for them!!  Its like saying your practice witchcraft ROFL.   I am amused more than anything by all this.  I really like that we all feed different foods.  Its good to share that information and the results of it.  I wish Purina monitored forums such as this, but I am sure they don't bother with it.  Its business first people.  I know its wrong by some standards.  But to the factory workers all over this great country of ours, its jobs and bills to pay and mortgages to pay etc.  Its not unlike any other business.  To do well, you have to sell.  Stockholders, and employees depend on a good quality product that is selling in the stores.  Marketing departments hire people with college degrees to make sure of it.  And there is room in the market place for upstarts and independant companies.  Many who will fall and many who will sell out to big companies like Purina or Iams if they do very well.  Its called business.  If you opened a store you would want to succeed.  I am sure Ralston started out small too.  And look at the monster they are today.  Corn is american.  It supports our farmers.  Why if you dog isnt' allergic is that a big deal.  Not first ingredient maybe, but hell, it not like your feeding them poison!  Mine must be just fine with it.  He loves his food and considering he is turning 10 soon, he is doing well for a senior with issues that aren't food related.  But I don't mind if you choose to feed Ol roy, Iams or Kibbles and Bits.  I know that does not mean you don't love your furry baby.  Some know better, some don't.  But it is what it is.  Like Sandra I use "people food" also.  Just to add to the pleasure of feeding and make life more interesting for Jax,  he enjoys it.  I like to spoil him.  It can only improve things I figure.  And that I have learned here.   Many here assume that breeders of show dogs and hunting dogs must be uneducated when it comes to food.  But the numbers speak volumes.  Pro Plan is the most often fed AKC champion food.  Deal with it I guess....or call them stupid.  It produces a good coat for showing.  And for many years we made the only performance food that is so important for hunting dogs that are working hard in the fields.  I won't bore you anymore with numbers but I assure you, I have countless clubs locally that only use it.  But they also treat the dogs as dogs.  Meaning they live in kennels in packs and work.  They laugh at me if I suggest them sleeping inside the house or (shutter) in bed with the owners!!  Those are the true Purina feeders.  In the past three years more winners of the Eukanuba cup were feeding Pro Plan rather than Iams/Eukanuba.  American is freedom and we have so many good choices in our food and our pets foods.  I won't put down anyone, I will only speak from my own experiences and I am happy with my choices thus far.  I am open to new foods and new ideas with a new dog.  But this dog will stay with the status quo and he is amazing to me just as he is with what he eats.  Don't forget to VOTE tomorrow!

Oh whoever had the comments on the Selects coming out and that seeming fishy.  Its again business.  Nutro has a line very similar that sells great and we compete with them.  Consumers are into the raw/homecooking/super premium foods now, so they give them what they seem to want.  Its trendy.  I have been thru the small breed/large breed food faze.  The lamb protein faze a really long time ago.  The indoor cat food faze.... we started that by the way.  We all copy off each other too.  Notice that?   Now its the DHA (which we had first again) on every puppy bag out there in mass markets.  It got trendy to do Oatmeal and Barley in the past couple years...again we all copy each other to stay competitive.  Just like shampoos or deodorants.  People food is the same way.

Honestly, I don't know what the big deal is.  If your food is working so well for your dog, why is it necessary to scream it from the roof tops and jump on any and all who oppose you?  I could care less what most people on here think of how I feed, train, etc my dogs.

Everyone is going to have different opinions.  A difference of opinion does not mean a personal attack.  Get over it.

And, since we're on the Purina subject....

...for all you pit bull lovers [linkhttp://www.pitbullforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=52411]http://www.pitbullforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=52411[/link]

Purina is paying a speaker who is pro-BSL.  Purina will always be on the s**t list in THIS house.....

In all of the years that I have been on Idog and a few other forums, I haven't come across rude and disgusting post such as these out of you!
    Grow up already!

    • Gold Top Dog
Wow. Things have definitely gotten out of hand. It's obvious that no one is changing their mind, so I think we should just agree to disagree. [;)]

Yep, it's business.  Good to know this company is willing to jump on any bandwagon and make whatever claims necessary to make a buck.  Even if it means their own products and claims contradict each other.  How anyone can trust one word of what they have to say about what is best for their dog's health after seeing all these dodgy, conflicting marketing schemes, I really don't know.  Hey, if people in good conscience can feed this to their dogs and feel good about their choice, then that's all that matters I guess.  None of my business.

Yeah, I'm not a Purina feeder but I sure will defend them.

Has anyone ever though that they may not want or need defending? If the regular posters/purina feeders felt personally attacked or upset by some of the comments do you think they would keep coming back on to every thread that merely uttered the word purina.Could it be remotely possible that some enjoy the debate, attention and perhaps excitement threads about their chosen food brings, and i know they know full well which direction the thread will take once they start posting about purina,Sandra, abbysdad etc know exactly what to expect on these kinds of threads yet they still choose to post on them.More power to them,i have no problems with that,we ALL are entitled to our opinion, but i dont feel bad for voicing mine or disagreeing with them,or feel the need to defend them because they choose to post their opinions. No one is forcing anyone else to defend their chosen feeding method,no one is forcing anyone to argue or debate, people post because they want to,of their own free will. I know if i was attacked everytime i said what i feed and i chose to take it personal then probably i would eventually stop posting, but as it stands i dont take much personally, and i am much thicker skinned than to ever accuse anyone of a personal attack against me,"sticks and stones might break my bones, but words can never hurt me"[sm=lame.gif] [8D]
