WHAT is with the Purina people?

Show me the scientific proof that X food is better then Y food.  Prove to me that there are scientific trials which show that Purina or Iams or whatever is causing problems and that the Premium brand isn't.  I want proof.  To be honest vets guess half the time as to what the problem is if the tests are inconclusive.  If a dog is injured well that is an easy fix.   I keep hearing how food makes that much of a diiference  then prove it scientifically.  I frankly could care what anyone feeds if their dog is healthy.  Most of the Purina feeds have been on the market for many years and if it was found that the food was causing health issues or death that if would be ripped off the market.
Feed what works best.

There is tons of information on the Internet and on another forum a person that has done intensive research on dog foods is on almost every day with a ton of knowledge on this subject.  This information is very easy to find, but you have to actually have to go out of your way a bit and  look it up and read it if you are really  interested in learning something about the subject.

I also like controled studies by INDEPENDENT labs./people/groups/whatever.  To many times these "research" studies are done by a person/group who prefer a certain brand/brands and they hunt and find everything they can that agrees with their ideas.  Meanwhile another person/group likes different brands and they hunt and find everythign they can that agrees with their ideas.    Those that like what the first group likes will use that product and swear it is the best because of research and studies.  And those that like what the second group likes will use that product and swear it is the vest bedause of research and studies. And there is usually a 3rd, 4th and 5th person/group who have found their"own proof  & studies' that back what they are saying.
 
Also, there is certainly the way things are read.  When Buck's kidneys were back to normal and he went off Science Diet k/d I posted the thread Buck off Science Diet.  Some read the title and thought i was talking about coupon for $1 off SD.  Others read it that i was telling SD to get lost, and a few read as it was meant, Buck was no longer on SD.  It was one statement,but read 3 different ways.

A controlled study would have to be carried out over the dogs' entire lifespan, this would be very difficult and costly to do.  However, there ARE controlled studies done on chemical preservatives and their carcinogenicity, and on the nutrient content and bioavailability of whole grains vs grain fragrements.  Also, there are scientific studies on wild canids and their diets - even though there is some disagreement on the exact diet - none of them will show that wild dogs eat a diet consisting mainly of grains or meat and grain by products.

Then there are no studies that have shown dogs eating Purina for a lifetime vs those who are eating something else.  That is what I want to see a controlled unbiased study over the course of a lifetime of hundreds of dogs.  There are many far more harmful things we do to our dogs to keep them healthy then their dog food, such as vaccines, meds, and heartworm and flea preventitives. 

Well, we can definately expect higher taxes now with the Dems in there...oh happy happy joy joy!

Here's an idea.  Let's all copy and paste the same arguments we use over and over and just keep replying.  When are we going to believe each other that yes, we all love our dogs like family and do our best by them?  My dog was being fed Nutro by the rescue group.  He constantly had diarrhea.  I gave him Eukanuba and it stopped.  Yay!  Woo!  But that doesn't mean Nutro doesn't work for anybody, and it doesn't mean that Eukanuba solves all problems.  It's what works for my dog.  My dog's done great on the oft-villified Eukanuba.  I'm trying Canidae, though, on advice of a lot of posters here.  If it doesn't work?  Back to good old Eukanuba. 
 
I think people who stand up for what works for their dogs should be applauded.  Doing what you think is best for your dog in the face of so much opposition and meanness is great.  I almost never come in here because it's just not very nice.  Yesterday I started my Canidae feeding and was all excited about it; then I saw this and just lost my appetite for it.  If Canidae works and Marty does awesome on it, great, but I'm not going to have the audacity to tell a bunch of people I don't know that they're idiots for feeding their dog what they do.

Nice try....I too am glad that the Dems have taken a bit more power......I'm tired of being bent over and screwed by the Republicans....and yeah, whoever said same sh*t different piles is right, but if its all in the same pile it tends to get too big.....as we've seen in recent years.

Well you must be alot richer than most of us, cause almost all the tax cuts went to the top 1% of the income levels in this country..  Believe it or not, I am not up there......... Oh, I almost forgot, the oil companies got some tremendous tax cuts too...   Something about a meeting with Dick Cheney a couple of years ago.........

Well you must be alot richer than most of us, cause almost all the tax cuts went to the top 1% of the income levels in this country.. Believe it or not, I am not up there......... I'm confused, as usual, but I was being sarcastic, in case you didn't catch that. Republicans always act like anyone who might ever raise taxes might as well be the devil. I just think there's more important things to worry about in politicians than their stance on taxes, though I do agree that it pretty much blows to get a quarter or more of your paycheck taken for taxes.

Oh yes oh so rich...hmm hubby works, stay at home mom with 3 kids.  Oh hell ya call me the next Mrs. Trump.  Taxes must be cut for the companies in order to keep the jobs here.  Tax the rich who own the companies hard enough and then they will go someplace else...besides I live in NY one of the most heavily taxed states.  You choose to see what you wish and I see what I see.  oh and I am a conservative by the way and proud of it.  Everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs and that is where I will leave this.  Thankfully I live in a Rep. run town and county otherwise I would be paying till I bled.

It doesn't matter how high the taxes are, the top 1% never pay much because they can afford tax shelters that make it seem like they make the same money as you or I make.  Tax cuts let them keep more of their money in the US, which is more convenient to them, but doesn't really increase the real wealth, only the perceived wealth.
 
Just remember, unless your representative accepted no campaign donations, he/she is bought and paid for.
