My TWO Finally Arrived!!

She's doing about the same ... but I didn't expect amazing improvements this soon. She has eaten a tiny bit of CA Natural. When she first sniffed it, she stopped, and looked up at me like, "Um, where the heck is my Timberwolf!?!"

I know she'll eventually eat it ... but I'm sure it's hard to eat any other dog food after eating the yummy yummy TWO!

[sm=lol.gif]   Oh...poor Roxie!  She misses her TWO!!    Do you mix anything into her dry kibble usually??

It will probably take a few days to really notice a big difference if there is going to be one. With JJ's feet it usually took about 48 hours to see a significant change in teh redness of his feet.

Well, I have to admit this ... Roxie finally got around to eating the CA Natural and didn't scratch nearly as much.  However, it could be because of the southwest chicken.  She's not had bison in two days now.  If the itching continues to decrease, I'll try the southwest chicken in about a week and see how she reacts.  If she does okay, I may just stick with that as my TWO food.  She had no treats today.  When we were at obedience class tonight, I used CA Natural kibble as treats.  Poor girl is getting NOTHING but CA Natural allllll weeeeeek.  LOL!  I feel mean, but I know it has to be this way.

Rachel...has Max been more itchy since you guys have gone out with the horse and to the mine and all??? Just wondering if he is getting exposed to maybe some stuff that is coming out late summer/ early fall.

Max doesn't seem quite as itchy...so I am hoping the chicken and/or sunflower oil is working its way out of his system. I ordered up some Wild Salmon Oil, so I am really hoping that helps his skin. I have heard that it is really great, especially for dogs with itchies, so we'll see. I probably will need to pick up some Vitamin E then for when it arrives in like a week! [:-] It always takes so long to get to me. But, I have to say this time they e-mailed me the tracking number so I can find out where it is and when it should arrive! The estimated time of arrival to date is Mon, Oct. 30th. [:@]

OK, so one thing I wanted to point out that I keep forgetting to is the kibble size of my Elk. My first 4lb bag and 16.5lb bag had the same size kibble...and the Elk you sent me JJsmom is that size too. But, this new replacement bag that I received...the kibble is smaller!?!?! [8|] Almost as small as the Serengeti...it's weird...just wondering if you guys have had consistent kibble size. I don't mind it...it's just interesting I guess. Thought I would point that out...[&:]

I wanted to ask you...if you decide to get the Wild Salmon Oil, are you going to also give Vitamin E? How much would you give it...once a day/twice a day....once a week/twice a week? I really want to get this figured out before it arrives on Monday. I don't want to over do it, but I don't want to under do it either. I think it will really help his skin! [:)]

These were questions I was planning on asking you! [;)]

I am so confused by it all but thanks to some stuff sooner posted i think I understand now that I need to give vit E every tim eI giv ethe TWO salmon...so I guess I will give the E (am hoping I can find liquid...otherwise will pop the gel pills).  I think I will only give it 1 meal a day and days when I feed salmon or sardines (assuming tehy go over well) then I will NOT give any salmon oil.

How much vit. E do we have to give again???

That's exactly what I was thinking also. Once a day with a capsule/liquid of Vitamin E...and then on the canned fish days I will not give it. Or, I might even do every other day to start off with...I don't know? [:(]
How much vit. E do we have to give again???

It's 100iu/25lbs...I looked at the store and saw capsules in 200iu and 400iu. So, if I get the capsule's I will just give one 200iu capsule when I give the Salmon Oil. I wonder where I can get the liquid E....?

I guess I just feel weird supplementing with Vitamin E...I am always cautious when I supplement with anything. I know that I don't take any Vitamin's...but I guess they need it if they get the fish oil. I just have searched all over the web and cannot find anything that address this issue. I think that is why I am so sketchy. [&o]

I noticed when I fed Pinnacle that there was some bags were smaller (or even shaped differently).  I always thought it was weird too!   Did you notice that the bison is smaller then either the elk or the ocean??

Actually, the Elk, Bison, and Ocean Blue all looked exactly the same! Same color and size of the kibble, everything. The only difference was the Ocean Blue did have a slight fishy smell that I would be able to point out. But, if the Elk and Bison bags got mixed I would never know the difference! [&:] This one replacement bag of 16.5lbs of Elk was the only size difference I have seen so far in the TWO kibble. I guess I am just so analytical...kibble size...poop texture, size, shape, smell, etc!! [:D]

I think the southwest chicken and bison have tiny little kibbles.  Those are the only two I've seen, though.

Update on Roxie: She has been scratching much less with CA Natural, but there's still scratching and licking from her.  Saturday was a horrible day for her.  She couldn't do much of anything without having to stop and scratch, lick, or chew.  I'd say she's scratching, licking, and chewing at 50%-60% now, rather than 90% (no joke) of the time before.  I'm happy for her, but I don't want to rule TWO out.  So ... on Monday, we're going back to it, and we'll see if she starts her misery again.  Also, it's been very cold here, and she's getting better.  I don't think it's environmental anymore.

The CA Natural poops have been excellent.  They don't come out super dark, though.  Just a lighter brown color.  LOL!!!  Anything's better than those orangish-yellow Nutro poops!  [sm=rofl.gif]

    No green poop? [sm=lol.gif]

I am glad Roxie is doing a little better...hopefully you can find the source [:D]   i would have to agree that there is a good chance that it is NOT environmental if she is having this much improvement.  Have you compared eth ingredients to see what the similarities/ differences are between bison TWO & CA natural??

The CA Natural only has (and this is from memory): Lamb meal, brown rice, sunflower oil, white rice, taurine, and vitamins/minerals.

TWO has a gazillion more.  LOL!

This is annoying, because my bag of CA Natural will be empty in a week.  That means I'd have to drive out and buy more, rather than order from TWO's website.  I'm still putting her back on TWO next week to see if she goes back to itching.  If so, CA Natural is staying.

Yeah, so it looks like TWO and CA Natural have absolutely nothing in common. So, it is either the TWO or the environment. I would assume TWO since she started itching right after eating it. But it may just be the bison formula or it may be all those other gazillion ingredients. So, once you have her calmed down on the CA Natural, then you can try the Southwest Chicken and see how she does. If she is itchy on that, I would presume it is one of the other ingredients besides the main protein sources that is the culprit.

Did you two see the list of items bogey is allergic to (under allergy section)?  Human dander threw me for a loop![:o]

she's allergic to pretty much everything ! Environmental allergies are: Ragweed, russian thistle, sage, lamb's quarter, yellow dock, cottonwood, walnut, oak, sweet vernal grass, june grass, human dander, sheep wool, mites, molds, fleas and houseflys. So, she's pretty much allergic to something year round. Food allergies are: corn, beef, milk, turkey and lamb.
    • Gold Top Dog
YES, I did see that! That's horrible...[:(]

It would be impossible to know the culprit then when it's so many things...thank God for allergy testing! [&:]

Last week was our first "cold snap".  What if THAT set her off?  This is ticking me off, but I'm so desperate to figure out what it is and somehow keep TWO.  LOL!!

Twin, if you want to know how high the grass, weed, and tree pollen count in your area is as well as mold here's a good site;    [linkhttp://www.aaaai.org/nab/index.cfm?p=pollen]http://www.aaaai.org/nab/index.cfm?p=pollen[/link]   It may give you some idea what's making your dog itch.  It's free to join and then you can see what types of weeds, trees, grasses, and molds are showing up in the counts. In California outdoor allergens are probably a factor in your dog's itching but in my part of the country their isn't any pollen now so itching would have to be caused by a food allergy or indoor allergies.
