My TWO Finally Arrived!!

POOP REPORT!!!  (Actually, I have two different reports -- one from last night and one from this evening!)  That means ... DOUBLE POOP REPORT!!!  [:D]

Last night was well formed and solid.  Very nice.  I was thrilled!  This evening's was even better and seemed smaller, even though she'd eaten about the same (two cups).  So far, the Dakota Bison is working extremely well for Roxie.  I'm hoping the Southwest Chicken and Herbs works out okay, too, but I won't know for another week and a half (with the amount of bison I still have).

Here's another idea I've had.  Since Trixie hates Serengeti ([:@]), I'll be feeding it to Roxie.  I'm going to alternate from a bison/southwest chicken mix to a bison/serengeti chicken mix and see which, if either, contribute to pudding poop.  I'm considering ordering a four pound bag of Ocean Blue, too, just to do the same thing -- bison/fish mix.  I'll do that when I'm low on bison, though.

Eventually, I want to know which formulas Roxie can tolerate and which ones she cannot.  Dakota Bison is a definite YES, but the jury is out on the others.

Shelly, Trixie is a seven month old kitten.  She's back to eating her Nutro Natural Choice Indoor Kitten kibble.  I give her one pouch each day, too.  She's done very well on Nutro, but I've known how much better she could do.  Felidae, Innova and EVO, CA Natural, and Serengeti have all failed.  Healthwise was the only Natura cat food she'd touch, but that didn't last long.  Nutro has been the one she loves to eat.

Chelsea, that's what I was afraid of.  She's only five pounds, so there's not much weight for her to lose.  How come your cats only eat SD?  Nutro NC isn't the greatest, but it has worked well for Trixie.  I hate that it's expensive for what I get, but I'm stuck with a Nutro NC-loving kitten.  LOL!  Is that the same situation you're in?

I bought a bag of the Serengeti, and none of my cats would touch it either. I ended up feeding most of it to Cherokee. I had my cats on Felidae for a while (two months or so), and two of them (out of four) didn't like it. I decided I wasn't going to cater to them, and kept them on it. One got VERY very thin, and the other lost quite a bit of weight (but he had some to lose). So I think cats will only eat what they need to actually stay alive if they don't like the food. They've both gained weight back, since they've been back on Science Diet.

I am so sorry Chelsea...cats are such a pain in the butt!  They can be so picky and so darn stubborn.   SO far my two like the felidae (it has been about 6- 7 months).  Will see what they think of the serengeti...the picky one LOVES the dogs TWO, so maybe he will like the cat formula???.

I am so happy that Roxies poops is doing so well...and a bit jealous since my guys have sensitive tummies [;)]
I think the bison is fantastic and really hope the other formulas work out for Roxie.
Poor trixie...she is sooo tiny.   I guess you need to feed her what she will eat since she is sick and also so small.[&o]  Poor baby...

I keep hearing that cats don't like felidae...so weird that my totally picky cat likes it just fine. They also like Natural Balance canned food and get a little 3 times a day. I am glad too because all his dandruff went away and his coat looks incredible. My step daughter asked me the other night if I had given him a bath because his coat was so shiny and soft...I told her no, it is just the food and I haven't given him a bath in 10 years! [;)]

How come your cats only eat SD?

Honestly, I live with my Mom, two of the cats are hers, and she wouldn't hear of switching them off of Science Diet. I finally convinced her maybe a year ago to try Innova, and one of her cats (my sisters and I joke that she loves this cat more than us) started peeing blood.

So back to SD they went for a while, til I convinced her again to try Felidae (and I was only able to convince her of that because of the DL-Methionine it contains, which is the same urinary acidifier SD has). No urinary problems, but both of her cats lost lots of weight, and the non-favorite one (how horrible is that??) got super duper skinny. She probably would have murdered me had it been her beloved Lou that got super skinny. [:D

My cousin's cat is living with us for a while, because their apartment threatened to kick them out because of her. She also lost weight on Felidae and her coat got really dull. Interestingly, my cat has done well on all three foods.

I feed them Innova Evo or regular canned to hopefully offset the SD a bit, but it's hard to switch them when three of them have such issues on other foods. [&o]

They're free fed, so I can't really feed my cat a different food than the other three, because he always has access to the SD. And it just seems so impractical to try and NOT free feed them. I don't even know how I would go about that. [&:]

My Mom's female is super soft and shiny since they've been back on SD. She's the one who lost tons of weight on Felidae, and her coat also got pretty bad. She looks so healthy back on Science Diet. I don't understand. [&:]

I don't know how I would free feed Trixie, either. Her eating habits are not always the same. One day she eats early and sleeps all day. The next day she doesn't eat much until night. Some days she's really hungry and other days she'll eat without caring. I wish she was more predictable, like Roxie.

My cat was free fed since he was a kitten till about 1 year old...well he got kinda fat! So, I have to control when he eats. Just like all my other animals, he eats twice a day at scheduled feeding times. He always eats all of it...but then again he is an indoor cat only and gets 1/4 cup total a day..so not that much at all, but he doesn't loose any weight with that amount...so all is well.

My cat did absolutely wonderful on the regular Science Diet Adult formula. The best coat ever and he looked and felt terrific. In one of the previous posts I listed the foods I have tried with my cat. But, he did gorgeously on SD. The reason why I started off with Science Diet was because my friends mom was feeding their cats it and they had gorgeous cats too, so I wanted to feed whatever food they fed because their cats looked so good. Also, one of their cats is like 27+ or something crazy like that! So, how bad of a food could it be?! [&:]

[Will see what they think of the serengeti...the picky one LOVES the dogs TWO, so maybe he will like the cat formula???.

I really hope your cats like the Serengeti! It is a really nice size, too...really small little ball shaped kibble. BUT, it does not have the same smell as the TWO kibble for the dogs...you know the really yummy smelling herbs and such. It is more plain and boring...and doesn't really smell that great if you take a good whiff. I am starting to think it probably resembles the smell of the the Wild & Natural kibble in size and smell...but I don't know for sure because I have not fed that kibble. I think my cat prefers the dogs kibble over the Serengeti, but he is a pig and eats anything! [;)]

I was thinking maybe I should send YOU a sample of it to see if your cats like it before your order it!! [:D] When were you planning on ordering it?

POOP REPORT!!!  (Actually, I have two different reports -- one from last night and one from this evening!)  That means ... DOUBLE POOP REPORT!!!  [:D]

YAY! So glad to have another poop reporter! I love it...keep 'em coming. I am also so delighted that Roxie is doing so well on the Bison. I can't wait to try that one, but Ocean Blue is next on my list. I am hoping all is well again for her today. It is always so nice when the poops are good...really makes me happy! [:D]

I hope Trixie is feeling better today. I am glad that she is at least eating, even if it is not the Serengeti. Cats can be picky...I wish my cat was picky and my dog wasn't...but oh well...it really is kind of interesting this way. I had such wrong pre-conceived notions when I got my cat. When I moved into this house there was a ferral cat that had kittens, and he was the runt. He was soooo famished and about to die...luckily I was able to catch him. I feel like I saved his life and so it makes me happy everyday knowing that. [;)] Anyway, I have never ever been a cat person. I just preferred dogs. I figured he was a cat so he would do his own thing, keep to himself, and be a picky eater. Well he is NONE of those...not what I imagined at all. He is absolutely like a dog, more than my pup is! He scarfs his food, eats everything he can, is totally on your lap all the times that he can, and whines whenever I leave the house! Now, I wouldn't trade that for anything! [:)]

I feel lucky that Bison was the first one Roxie ate.  That makes the process easier.  Like ... if I'd ordered one of the other formulas and she had pudding poop, I'd be discouraged.  We've got one positive formula out of the way, with a few more to go.

I'm probably going to try the lamb formula last, because it has a high calcium percentage.  Seems like I read that anything over 1.5% calcium is too much for large breed puppies; the lamb formula has 1.8%, I think.  Wild and Natural has less than that, so I actually have considered using it down the road.  The only formula I probably will not use is the Black Forest.

Trixie's doing very well today.  She ate her kibble and half of a pouch (she'll finish the rest later).

Roxie was VERY HUNGRY today.  So far she's had three cups of bison, which is a cup more than she's had since eating the bison.  She usually doesn't eat over three cups a day, no matter what brand or formula the dog food is.  Since she's had three cups of the TWO, I'm wondering if she'll have a loose stool this evening.  The bag says not to overfeed ... but she's an eight month old pup.  Shouldn't she be eating more anyway?

    POOP REPORT!

Roxie's poop is different today.  There was more of it (as I expected) and it was kinda "bulbous" in appearance.  It's been really dark and green, which is supposedly normal for TWO poop, isn't it?  (When she was on Nutro, her poop was a hideous yellow-orangish color [:'(])  Not bad at all, really.  I'm still very happy with how things are going.

I'd seriously take a picture if no one would vomit.  LOL!  It's hard to describe sometimes, but a picture says a thousand words.  We seem to be poop-obsessed, but I bet the obsession would fade if we SAW an actual poop report.  [:'(]

SO the TWO website has a few changes…I noticed that their powder “wild elements” is gone and that their dog food bag pictures look different…they are also starting to improve the “where to buy” section.   While looking around I also noticed under “news and events” that they mention the pheasant canned food will be coming out soon (but they don#%92t say when)..  they also mention something about a new “treat” coming soon…I am assuming they actually mean a dog TREAT??? They also say that their wild elements powder is being improved and will be re-released in Dec.   Lots of exciting stuff!!! Can#%92t wait for the canned pheasant![:D]

Twin…your cat sounds like a hoot!! Cats are so strange sometimes…mine are kinda neurotic!!  your baby is lucky you saved him [;)]
SO I am having a hard time keeping my internet connection tonight so I will give a poop update real quick and not keep trying to respond to all the things I want to respond to!!.   Poop is still looking decent but not fantastic.  We are approaching day 7 and they are still on about 50% or so of the ocean per meal.   When they go LONGER periods of time between poops, the poop is almost normal (like if they go first thing in the morning after not going since the evening before)…but they also seem to be pooping more often and it is these “closer together poops” that are way soft.  I think their body is just taking longer to digest this formula.     Gas is almost non existent now so I am very pleased.  Gonna keep trying it til we get to 100% ocean and then leave them on the ocean for a few days for every meal and then will back off to just 1-2 meals a day on ocean and the rest on bison.      Will wait a few weeks before trying the salmon oil.   Hopefully all will work with the ocean so that I can just keep them on those two formulas.  Even though I would like to try other formulas, I really don#%92t want keep transitioning them since they have sensitive tummies.  [:'(]

I noticed the changes, too!  The small bag design they had has been changed to actual pictures ... interesting.

And I e-mailed Carol about the canned food.  It sounds really great from what she told me.
