My TWO Finally Arrived!!

    • Gold Top Dog
I had a bag of bison that was being unused.  Well, I decided to see if she would touch it this morning ... and she did!  She did not have to go "poo-poo" (my term when taking her out to potty) until a few minutes ago.  I was nervous about it being a runny mess, because I did a cold turkey switch.

Um.  Wow.  The poop was excellent.  Very small and not much of it, even though she'd eaten very well today.  She usually leaves decent sized poops, but these were very small.  I'm sold on it now.

I'd ordered a bag of Serengeti earlier this morning, but had to go ahead and order a bag of the dog food, too, because it wouldn't give me free shipping otherwise.

Trixie is sooo picky, though, so I'm hoping she'll like the cat food.  I'm stuck if she doesn't, since their return policy doesn't allow for not liking the food.

That is great news!!! So this was the first experience you have had with TWO??? My pups have done fantastic on the bison, but the elk they didn't tolerate (bad pudding poops...and leading into diarrhea for almost 2 weeks).  I just started them the other day on the ocean blue formula because I would like to have 2 formulas to alternate between.

I am also planning to start the Serengeti for my cats in a few weeks so you will have to let me know how your finicky cat likes it![:D]

Well, Roxie had to turn me into a liar!  LOL!

She had to go back out just a few minutes ago to potty.  This time she had a "pudding poop," as you called it.  It wasn't terribly gooey or runny (yuck [:'(]), but it wasn't too solid.  Funny how the first round was excellent and the second was a pudding poop.

Guess the cold turkey wasn't as smooth as I'd thought.

I'd ordered the bison a while back (and it arrived the very next day, so maybe today's order will come tomorrow!), but Roxie didn't really like it.  I like TWO's ingredients, so I gave it another shot.

I hope Trixie likes the cat food.  Gosh, I don't want to deal with a wasted bag.  [:(]  I'm risking it, though, because I know how good the quality is.

I've not read all of the pages in this thread, but what formulas have you used besides the ocean blue, bison and wilderness elk?

Is the wild and natural like EVO?  Can I feed it to a large breed pup?  You and Rachel seem to hold the TWO answers!  LOL!

I am just not convinced it is food related because he really isn't eating any of the same ingredients that were in the canidae or even the evo canned. [&:]  What do you think??

I have no clue! I am sure it has to be food related to some degree though because when he was on Canidae he went downhill immediately! The first day he was on 100% Canidae he woke up with eye boogers and had them ever since...he has never ever had eye boogers. Then right when I switched him to TWO he immediately improved. His coat became shiny again, his eye boogers went away, and he smelled much better. So.........I have to assume it is food related. Not only that but he is itchy year round...doesn't matter what season. But, who knows unless I did an allergy test...and that is soooooooo expensive. Right now it is under control and he is nowhere near like he was before. I think I might just go one more 16.5lb bag of Elk before I jump to any conclusions. He has improved tremendously on the TWO over the Canidae...so its got to be something to do with food. Right? [&o] I think he might just have to get all the toxins of the chicken or sunflower oil out of his systerm...but I am really thinking rice isn't the culprit...but could he be allergic to ALL grains/oats, etc?

I have only used the Wilderness Elk so far. My pup is doing fantastic on it...he was doing horribly on Canidae and has improved 10 fold on this formula. I am planning on rotating between the Wilderness Elk, Ocean Blue, Dakota Bison, and Lamb/Apples (only if he isn't sensitive to rice). I really like the ingredients in the TWO kibbles and I can't find one comparable. Also, my pup HATES plain kibble...not matter what kind it is. So, I basically just buy him whichever I want and he eats it with the other fresh stuff I add in! [:)]
Is the wild and natural like EVO?  Can I feed it to a large breed pup?

Yes, the Wild & Natural is like the EVO in the fact that it has a high protein percentage, but unlike EVO it has a much lower calcium/phosphorus/ash percentage...which I find more appealing for the high protein foods. But I would not feed it to a large breed pup because of the high protein (36%). I would wait until the pup is at least 18 + months old.

I just checked my order status.  It was in Clarksville, Tenn., at 8:43 p.m. and then arrived in Nashville at 10:46.  As of 1:16 a.m., it had left Nashville and is now on its way to Knoxville!  That's only 177 miles!  It says "IN TRANSIT TO", so it's comin'!  This means it won't take an eternity to get here!

Roxie loves fish, so I know she'd go insane over the ocean blue.  Does it have a rotten fish smell?  EP's fish made me want to vomit, especially after Roxie reeked of its odor.  I'd like to try her on the lamb and apples, too.  She has no problem with rice, so it's an option.  And I'll wait on the wild and natural then.

The Wild and Natural should be ok for a large breed pup.

Ella's getting kibble today because I have class and a test to study for and I forgot to pull any meat out of the freezer.
She had sardines in olive oil last night and LOVED them. It was a HUGE hit. I didn't have to give her her fish oil supplements because two small cans of sardines has 2 grams of omega 3's!
So I just gave her a vitamin capsule.
    • Gold Top Dog
I don't recall the Ocean Blue smelling too fishy.
And how does Roxie do on lamb?
I allowed Ella to gnaw on a lamb femur and she had the world's WORST GAS EVER.
    ew.

Actually teh fish smell is pretty mild.   It smells teh same as eth bison and elk (you know how you can smell teh herbs and cin bark...not a lot of dog food smell???)   Well the Ocean Blue smells like the same herbs, but you can smell a little fish.  Honestly though it is still WAY less stinky than 90% of the kibbles I have tried![;)]   I think Roxie wodul like it!!    I am glad your food is close!  They really have been pretty good (at least with me) on the shipping.   Last time was only 4 days to process, ship and transport my order to Southern California![:D]

Did you see in this thread that they are coming out with TWO canned food this month?

Rebecca...I just bough sardines for my two guys this past weekend! I know Max really likes them when Rachel has added them. I can't wait to try them but I am waiting for them to adjust a bit more on the ocean blue before I go trying something new in their food!  Was this the first time Ella has had them?? Was the poop OK??

Hmmm...you are right that there probably is a component to the food that he is allergic too.   I still think their might be something environmental though that makes him itchy.   Maybe try the benedry  and also Jessies mom has some good suggestions for shampoos for itchy doggies.  Maybe his next bath try one of those???

Rebecca, I used to think Roxie didn't like lamb, because she had refused to eat a (cheap) dog food with it as the single protein source.  That was out the window when she had CA Natural's lamb formula, though.  I realize that she does like lamb, just not when it's in garbage foods.   It was also mixed in with chicken meal in the Nutro forumlas she ate, so I knew it wasn't something she absolutely hated.  Gas isn't much of an issue with Roxie.  She has cleared a room before (LOL!).

Shelly, according to the order status, my food is here in Knoxville as of 7:15 this morning and is "Out for delivery"!  I didn't really keep up with the status of the first order.  Work was really bogging me down, so I didn't have time to sit around and check its status.  It's very exciting (and I'm five-years-old!)!

Shelly-Ella has not pooped yet today, so I really can't say.
Her poop does good on the raw when she goes.
I have to be careful not to give her too much liver or carrots, that's when the poop can start to get a bit on the soft side with raw.
It'll probably be ok, it usually is on fish.
She handled them well and licked her bowl CLEAN and then kept going back to her empty bowl for more licks (of an already well emptied bowl!) until I washed it out.
As soon as she hears that steel hit the counter, man, she come RUNNING into the kitchen.
    • Gold Top Dog
Roxie-What's weird is that Ella doesn't get gas on raw (except for that femur bone that she only ate SOME of the meat on) but she gets it on kibble.
    WHEW!
I love timberwolf as far as kibbles go, but Ella can sometimes get some horrendous gas on it![:D]

LOL!  I'm hoping Roxie's gas does not become a problem.  Like I said before, she has cleared a room before.  I was watching TV on the couch, and she was stretched out beside me.  It was one of those 'silent but deadly' farts.  It hit me like a ton of bricks!  [:'(]  I'd hate for her to have those killer farts often.
