TWO feeders- the poop looks good!!!

Since his poops are good, I am going to switch him to the Lamb and Apples when the Bil-Jac is gone. Although I am a bit skeptical since he had problems with TO Wild and Natural, I am going to give it a shot (and luckily I found a local store that sells TO). I think that the reason he is doing fine on this one and not the W&N is because of the grains and their contribution of fiber, but that's JMO.

I am so glad that your pup is enjoying the new food (and that you can actually find it somewhere local). I just went on the 2 links that Sooner gave for ordering dog food and pet direct was going to charge over $25 JUST FOR SHIPPING!  The other site was charging about $15 to ship to my area code, making the local store carrying it for under $65 actually a good deal![:@]

Anyway, I am thinking maybe your problem was the Wild & Nat formula since they are pretty different from one another.  I was hoping that the lamb and apples didn't have rice so I could feed JJ, but it was not meant to be!  I bet Wolfie lieks teh small kibble size!
Hey, how long did it take for you to get your bag shipped??

LOL! When I read this, I was thinking "There's someone else in Costa Mesa????" and it literally took about 15 seconds for me to realize you must be talking about ME! [:D] I'm a little dense sometimes...

Lol, well I used to work in Costa Mesa. Does that count? [:)]

It took about 4ish days? (I think)  It wasn't very long at all.

And yes, he does like the small kibble size [:)] I also think he likes it because they are softer kibbles, not really hard like some foods (EVO for example).  He doesn't like foods that are really hard.

EVO now has the red meat formula and another option I would consider if your pup doesn't like barking at the moon, is Nature's Variety Raw Instinct. Also, TWO Wild and Natural like you mentioned before OR if you want grain free but still not as high of protein as the W&N, then the Ocean Blue.

I'd like to try out all of the above.  The problem is that if I have too many food varieties the bags will stick around a long time since I've only got the one dog.  I've tried a couple of NV Raw Instinct samples and she seemed to like it.

How old is your pup and what protein levels are you wanting to stay around??

She's 13 months.  I'd like to stay at least in the upper 20s (excluding moisture) so a 26% or higher as packaged (like the TWO Elk and Bison varieties).

I did get an e-mail from TWO at 8:00am on Thurs, Sept 7th...saying my package had been shipped. I did not get a tracking number or anything, that would have been really helpful. Either way, I guess I had a pre-conceived notion that I would get my shipment pretty soon...beings that Chelsea in Costa Mesa did. Oh well...I should have just purchased the 16lb or 33lb bag...but I wanted to start with the 4lb to mix with the Canidae for a week or so to see how he reacts to it...but I am just about out of Canidae...so my plan is a bit skewed.

As for my cat...he likes kibble over canned for some weird reason. So, he eats the canned if he is starving...otherwise he holds out for the kibble. But he is having to deal right now because I am out of kibble. He finished his 2.2lb bag of EVO, then all I had left was a sample bag of regular Innova cat...and now the canned EVO. Poor guy...but he is weird and eats just about any kibble there is...even the dogs. Sometimes I wish my dog were like the cat! [:)]

I am going to Reno tonight, so those places will be closed to buy the TWO by the time I get there. So, I am thinking I might just have to order up a 16lb or 33lb bag today or tomorrow. I just want to wait for my first shipment to make sure that comes before I trust sending out another order. Does that make sense?

Does the food come shipped in a box or just straight in its bag?

    THANKS GUYS!! [;)]

ETA: Papillon-when you said it took you 4 days to get your shipment...was that 4 days from the day of ordering...or 4 days from the date they said it shipped out?
    • Gold Top Dog
It was 4 days after it said it was shipped out.

It comes shipped in a box- it was a surprisingly small box for a 16 pound bag too.

    My thoughts exactly! lol

I wish my cats were like that. Mine wouldn't touch the Timberwolf cat food, and there's been a bowl of it in the bathroom for days, and it doesn't look like anyone has touched it. [&o] What a waste of 11 bucks.. Maybe I'll just feed it to Cherokee. [:D]

I understand completely! I woudl say try the Solid Gold for a bit now and then if you you want to try others to rotate between maybe the NV raw instinct would be a good one if she likes it and tehn if not maybe the Timberwolf formulas (I think the NV is still JUST under your $2 a pound  preference, at least at my local stores it is.

Yup, I worked at Ditech- right across the street from South Coast Plaza. At the time I lived in Huntington Beach, but now I'm living in Richmond, VA (where I'm originally from). :( I miss California sooooo much.

    Poop report! [:D]

On Solid Gold Barking At The Moon I am getting quite firm, low odor, low volume, easy to pick up, output.  I did cut back some on how much I've been feeding.  This is partly because of my cold turkey, new food adjustment theory.  I'd rather err on the side of slightly underfeeding when trying new food.  She has had no less energy.  It is higher in kcal's than Pinnacle Duck & Potato anyway.  I was feeding her 2.5 cups of Pinnacle per day but 2 cups of this seems fine.  She is ~55 pounds now I think.

I don't feel comfortable (because of her age, 13 months) feeding my German Shepherd this for every meal but the 15 pound "trial" purchase looks like it will work out. [;)]

Hey, we were just up there last weekend for a sheepdog herding competition! New Kent, actually. There will be another one at the State Fair if you are there for that. I might enter that one, I'm not sure at the moment.
