Rave for TW Organics Dakota Bison

According to Mordanna, they do not own their own manufacturing facility, in fact, very few dog food companies do. Their production is farmed out somewhere - most likely Diamond, and a (un-authenticated) e-mail from Diamond was posted that said they produced TO. However, no one has ever received an answer directly from TO. This just means that TO supplies the ingredients and Diamond (or whoever) makes the food in their machines.

When I fed TO, I found several large, light-colored pieces of kibble in the bags. TO, to my knowledge, does not make a large, light-colored kibble - I assume it was pieces of whatever other food is produced on those machines... doesn't bode well for their quality control... one of many reasons I don't feed TO any more.

    Thanks Kelly! [:)]

Yeah, after hearing that I am a bit (A LOT) concerned. I, personally, do not want to buy Diamond products (in any way, shape, or form). They are too "all over the place" for my likings...not worth the health of my pup when there are other good quality reputable kibble companies.

However, no one has ever received an answer directly from TO.

This does not sit well with me. I like straight forward companies that do not leave ANY room for interpretation or assumptions. If we don't know this for sure...what else don't we know?! [:@]

That makes me concerned now as well... if it is true that Diamond manufactures their food, it will be time for a food switch for me.

I know of two that manufacture their own,I know there are more, but the two I could think of are
    Wysong
    Eagle Pack

Personally, I don't find it to be a problem that Diamond manufactures it because it was an aflatoxin (fungus growth) from a certain batch of corn that was the problem. Several different foods are manufactured by Diamond and I've never heard of any other problems.
    • Bronze
Yes, but if it is manufactured on the same pieces of machinery, pieces of contaminated corn can still get mixed in with the TO kibbles.

That's true, but honestly I have a feeling that Diamond is being MUCH, much more careful these days! I guess everyone has to go with what they're comfortable with though.

That is true.  I know of many people who feed Chicken Soup who haven't had any problems with Diamond.  I just wish that TO would give an answer for where their food is manufactured from.

Yeah, I've looked around on the website and can't find the answer, although I thought I remembered seeing it there before... [8|] I'm sure Carol would be more than happy to answer the question though if you e-mail her! [:)]
    • Bronze
I looked all over the website as well... and nothing.  I will probably send Carol an email asking her for more information regarding where they manufacture their food.  Even if Diamond does make it, I'm sure that they cleaned up their act to avoid any reprocussions of what happened before.

I think a company that has had troubles in the past, such as diamond, would now have stricter QC than the average pet food plant! Another stuff up could spell the END of their company,so i would imagine they'de be checking and re-checking that all their produce is up to scratch.
    • Gold Top Dog
Just my opinion...but if a company has something happen like that where it kills I don't know how many dogs...it's not worth my pups health AT ALL. It is true that they probably have stricter quality controls than before...but still doesn't make them better necessarily than companies that have never had problems. Also, why does Chicken Soup need to change their formula's so many times in a matter of weeks? That doesn't sound like a confident company at all. [:(] Many stores around my area are getting rid of Chicken Soup because they are just too sketchy for many customers and they are not purchasing it anymore. That is understandable to me.

Is this an example of their stricter quality control?? [:@]

    Does T.O sell canned food?

I just asked this in another thread.

I don't care what problems they had in the past. I like their product and until I noticed something wrong, I'd still buy from them.

I have e-mailed Mark Brinkmann, Diamond's chief operating officer, about this and he said Diamond makes TO. TO makes the claim on their site that their food is manufactured in an APHIS plant; I asked Diamond if they make TO's food in an APHIS plant and their response was to ask TO that question. Months ago I e-mailed TO asking them if Diamond made their food in an APHIS plant and did not receive an answer. I e-mailed them again about a month ago and still no answer.

Nope, no canned food from what I know.

Another negative that doesn't sit well with me. Why can't they answer this simple question? [:@]
