I just have another question.  The Ocean Blue also only has one meat source.  How come that doesn't get picked apart like the Wysong I posted??  Just wondering if I'm missing something.
    • Gold Top Dog
I don't know, Willow. Until Glenda's post, I didn't know to have ANY kind of concern with Wysong but I didn't know the food even existed until I read that you fed it in a post a couple of days ago er...or something like that.

What I want to know is: What's with the ground cinnamon bark in the Ocean Blue? I read that on my bag yesterday (before I returned it because she won't eat it anymore) and I don't know the nutritional benefit of cinnamon bark in dog food. I'm not saying there isn't any, but does anyone know what it is? Or is it just added for flavor?
    • Gold Top Dog
I think it's just for added flavor, but I think it contributes to dogs not liking it in some cases. (the TO foods all have that cinnamon-like smell).

If a food is only going to have one meat, which is what I prefer also, it should be a 'meal' and not a water-inclusive meat.

    Thank you Kelly.

I went to the Wysong website trying to find answers to where the ingredients in their food comes from after Glenda's post.  The site states that they have corporate headquarters in Midland, MI and manufacturing in WI.  I'm going to call them though.

OK looks to me like you don't want to accept my apology, that's fine. I guess listening to everyone else Wysong is a great food! I am so sorry to have had MY OWN opinion on it...looks to be like you are still taking it as a PERSONAL attack, have no idea why? Also seems to me like you only accept opinions that help you feel better about the situation, which I admit is what most of us want to hear, but there will be times when someone will disagree (GOD FORBID) and you'll be like "oh yeah, you know what maybe they are right, I never really thought of it that way." Exactly what opinions are for...take em or leave em...no need to take them personal and attack the Person (me) because you don't like their opinions. If I asked you or anyone else for that matter an opinion on a certain food and some said it was great and some said it sucked, I would at least have both sides! Not everything will be positive or go your way. Shoot...people (Papillon806) tell me I am paranoid! That was more of an attack on me than anything else, but did I take it personally? No, they were just being honest and that is how they felt. I used it as constructive criticism, and realized "yeah I am a bit paranoid"...funny what pets will do to you. Did I tell them to BACK OFF?! No need for HATRED.

I still believe it to be a low quality food and has no "real" meat in it. If you are looking for a mostly grain food, then Wysong would be the perfect choice. Once again, Willowchow (Lori), that is why I was asking you why you were looking at feeding this food...which you still never answered, because maybe those were the exact ingredients you were looking for! How was I to know?

Once again, no point in having a forum if everyone can't have their own opinions. I already apologized for my post if it offended you...I can't help it if you want to hold a grudge. And never once did I tell you to feed a premium food. I believe many people have already given you their opinions on a number of products for you to try and you are still acting like you have no options...

God, she needs a plain, one meat kibble, no barley, no chicken.  She can eat beef, turkey and fish fine.  Grains don't bother her.  I can't believe it's this hard to find a kibble for her.  I'm about to say forget it and she won't get one

Natural Balance Venison and Brown Rice
    CA Natural Lamb and Rice
    Canidae Lamb and Rice
Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish
    Natural Balance Duck and Potato
    Nutro Natural Lamb and Rice
    Timberwolf Organics Ocean Blue
Wysong (thats fine if you like it, its more important that your dog likes it and thrives on it no matter what...it was just MY opinion!!)

Probably most of those that I listed you have tried and it didn't work, but you know what, I dont know that! I am new to this forum and don't know you or your dogs past. Only trying to offer my advice...which obviously is not a good thing. [:(] I know it is harder to find foods without chicken, even ones that are mostly another meat still have chicken somewhere in the ingredient list. Barley is also becoming more prevalent in dog foods.

I am here to help people out, and yeah of course sometimes I will be wrong, but it is all in good faith. I am not trying to offend people or start problems. You still need to take my opinion for what it was ... just an opinion...

Papillon806 (Jana) - I read your post where you critiqued what I said. I understand we have differing views on this food. I am respecting your opinion. I will still disagree with you though and that is why this world is such a wonderful place. People are DIFFERENT and will hold entirely different views on EVERYTHING! I think its fine you see this food to be decent, your opinion, just don't know why you need to attack my views when I am not attacking yours. And also, Willowchow (Lori) never gave me her opinions on Wysong...just asked what we all thought of the ingredients, which was open for interpretation. I was not attacking HER, nor HER OPINIONS on this food. Do I have to agree with you about corn, poultry fat, etc...nope...do you have to agree with me...nope! No need to for all this. Once again...it was my opinions on this particular food...not on the people that were looking at feeding it!!

    • Gold Top Dog
I don't think it was so much as a problem with your opinion as it was the way you said it....such as the "lets not get started on corn [:@]" and the "why would you want to feed this food [sm=no%20no%20smiley.gif]" just like saying "how dare you even consider this?!"

Maybe if you want your opinions to be taken in consideration you should re-think the way you word it and nobody would take offense.
    • Gold Top Dog
I guess you didn't read MY posts.  My comments were not all that supportive of Wysong because I GREW UP in the town that the company is in.  I understand NOW that it is manufactured elsewhere, which really gives me further pause.
    • Gold Top Dog
    Jana-

You know what? That is probably true! [:)]

But what I have learned throughout my lifetime...is you can't word things to please everybody! Someone is going to take offense to things no matter how you word it! I have apologized numerous times now for wording it the way I did.. I do not know how many more times I can say that I did not mean for it to be taken the way it did! I find this to be excessive. If I didn't care I would not spend my time typing up responses/apologies.

We all aren't going to like the way certain people word things...or list out ingredients and critique them...but people will do what they want to do. Don't hate them for it. It is just different ways that people offer their advice and opinions.

Why don't you guys see that I am sorry and stop hating on me...it was worded wrong to you and I am SORRY...I am 23 years old...I am going to talk and word things different compared to someone that is twice my age...not saying you guys are because I have NO idea how old everyone is. I just feel that I should not have to sit here and think about how to word my opinions in a way that will not offend the entire dog.com population. People just need to know not to take things so personally. How about when you said :

No offense but I think you are a little paranoid.

Should I have asked you to word that differently because it offended me?? I did not take that personally at all and it was aimed soley at ME, not FOOD...so why is everyone taking this like I was personally bashing Lori?? [:(]

    Glenda-

Lori obviously did not take offense to what you said. You were offering great advice because you have insight into that area and what was going on there. Lori and Jana obviously are taking offense to what I said. I guess because I worded it wrong and had the WRONG opinion.............................

I am 23 years old...I am going to talk and word things different compared to someone that is twice my age

lol, how old do you think I am?  Pretty much the same age [;)]
    • Gold Top Dog
You're missing the point.  I gave Lori a NEGATIVE opinion of a food that you seem to think that she wanted only positive opinions on.  And, if in fact the food is manufactured elsewhere, I was WRONG.

I don't think anyone hates anyone.  I think others can perhaps SEE Lori's point, especially those of us who have been around forever.  Many of us know the struggles she's had with Willow's digestive issues.  I would think that the best advice I could offer you right now is something I tell my dogs on a regular basis.....leave it.
    • Gold Top Dog
Like I said I have NO idea how old people are....

It just seems that a lot of people nowadays think everyone is out to get them. This is simply not the case. I had no wrongful intentions or malicious thoughts when I offered Lori advice. Looks to me like everyone just takes her side and gangs up on me. I am just constantly getting baraded for something I worded wrong.

As for the stupid finger shaking icon...SORRY SORRY SORRY! It actually made me laugh it was so funny looking...not at all meant to be mean!!!!!!!!!!!!! [sm=banghead002.gif]

    Glenda-
See Lori's point on what? The fact that I analyzed the ingredient list that she posted? OK, but when I am worried about my dogs eye I am called paranoid? I guess I am missing the point....
    • Gold Top Dog
One little thing, if I may interject here - I don't know about anybody else, but eggs are a problem for both my chicken-sensitive pets (Ben and my Siamese).  That is really hard to avoid in premium foods, let me tell you! [:(] I think I noticed that egg was listed in the Wysong, whatever else might be an issue with it.
    • Gold Top Dog
You know what, I was going to type a response but just want to say this.  I never said I hated anyone.  And, I'm certainly not holding a "grudge" against someone on an internet forum.

Second, regardless of how the post came across to me I did appreciate the feedback about the food. And, I did take into consideration the turkey vs turkey meal that was pointed out.

I believe many people have already given you their opinions on a number of products for you to try and you are still acting like you have no options...

There you go again, if you don't want to start problems don't post in this manner.  It comes off as rude.  Especially, you go post this and then say you don't know me enough to know whats going on.  So, then why post in this "tone".
    • Gold Top Dog
I was trying really hard to stay out of this, but I wish you would give it a rest now Willow. Twin has swallowed her pride and apologised, when IMHO she didnt need to,and you're still carrying on at her her on the way she has to speak to you.... I havnt found anything she has said rude, and it's not really up to you to tell her how she should speak and how she should not.Take it or leave it,i say.

I agree a number of people have given you their opinions on a number of products, you've got 3 whole pages of helpful replies that ought to keep you busy for a while, why not concentrate on that instead of picking on and re-hashing  what twin has said to  you?
